Water squirting out of sand filter

So this isn't probably good, right? There is a little stream of water squirting out of my Triton II sand filter when running on high speed. It's coming out of the fiberglass, not from the top?

Does this call for a total replacement or is there a repair solution for this?IMG_7654.jpeg

It appears the filter shell is compromised. You should turn off the pump and not put any pressure on that vessel. It is not repairable. Do you have a MPV? If so, you can set it on Recirculate to keep your water moving and to mix in your chlorine each day.

Pressure vessels can catastrophically fail and harm people and things.

Sorry what is a MPV?

Sand filters are a bad idea out here in the desert southwest. Our water is too expensive to waste and backwashing uses a lot of unnecessary water. Do yourself a favor and convert over to a VERY LARGE cartridge filter. The Pentair Clean & Clear line of filters are very good. Get the biggest filter you can possibly afford.

Nope. Use your brush to mix in liquid chlorine every day until you get the filter replaced.
