Anybody cleaned the dolphins cord

Mine stays in the pool and feels a little sticky. I put it out in the sun which helped but wondering if there if there is something to wipe it down with and not make it tacky

Its the effects of chlorine on the silicone, not much we can do. I also leave it in the pool.

Not only does mine feel sticky, I constantly have pieces of rubber on my hands when I pull it out of the water. I'm meticulous about anything on the bottom of my pool - I feel like I can see buildup from the cord in the corner of the pool. Cord was replaced at the start of last pool season with the upgraded swivel version, and the robot is mostly left in the water during our short northern pool season (April - Oct). I tried to wipe it down with a towel about a month ago, but that didn't seem to do much.

You are seeing the cord material being broken down by the chemicals in the pool water. Your choices are to not store the robot in the pool to allow the cord to dry out more, or replace the cord when it begins to break down.

Thinking bigger picture, it does bring out the point that you are relying on rubber, or some other polymer seals, to prevent water from getting into the robot electronics. The same way that the cord is getting attacked, these seals can get attacked as well. Of course you hope that the seals are made of a material like viton that are more resiliant, but not sure. Just food for thought.

As inexpensive as these robots are I guess you can’t expect that they’d be made from materials that would hold up to the intended environment, chlorinated water.

I just replaced my S200 cord. Very simple but at $150 now I don’t leave it in the pool as much to help make it last longer. There was moisture inside plug and at swivel base when took it apart.

I wouldn't necessarily say they are "inexpensive", but I think careful consideration should be brought up to these companies to redesign the cords with some other bendable material that is more prone to the harshness of pool chemicals besides rubber.

Every 6 months i open up the swivel and plug and add extra MagicLube to seal off water.

Thanks for the share. Ours too stays in the water and I have noticed the familiar peeling/chunks from the hose. This video is an excellent tutorial for taking it apart!

This needs to be tagged and shared..I opened mine and had a little algae around where the cord goes in..Not concerned about the algae as much as that causing a leak and ruining the swivel.
I did like Felipe suggested, wiped the cord off and added a little pool lube..I also added a tiny amount where the O-rings seat.

This is another reason to stay away from the BT option. Look at the price of the cable for it. More than 2x the non BT cord last time I checked for the Warrior SI vs SE. Also, my cord was sticky out of the box.

I got it, but did have to read it twice

My cord was getting tangled more them when I first bought it and I think cleaning and lubing it will help.

Hopefully I can replace my SI cable with the SE cable when the time comes and just sacrifice the clumsy BT 'drive it around' feature.
