I have been looking everywhere for a threaded water temperature sensor (10k ntc thermistor) or where someone has done this already. I’m googled out.

The big 3 make sensors where you have to drill a small hole in the pipe and then use a saddle clamp to hold the sensor in place (no threads)

Since I am rebuilding the equipment pad and not retrofitting, I want to use a 2"s X 1/2"fipt X 2"s tee such as this.

Then just wrap the temperature sensor threads with some teflon tape and I’m in business. Makes replacing the sensor down the road, much easier as well.

I can’t imagine someone has not thought of this already, so if you could please share, that would be great. Thanks in advance!

Also, I'm going to ask another dumb question. Since I will be adding an IntelliChlor with automation, and since the Intellichlor measures temperature I believe. Is that temperature from the IC relayed to the automation or do I still need to use a separate water temperature probe?

Thanks Jim,
I understand and you're right. But since I'm an old (in age only ) retired guy, this project has just turned into a temporary hobby for me. So I'm probably "over-killing" a few things.
But you probably responded before I added the last question. Any idea about the IntelliChlor temperature being relayed to the automation or am I just "dreaming" lol....

The IC temperature is not sent to the Easytouch. You will have a separate water temperature sensor in your plumbing for that.

The easiest thing to do is get a plastic CGB (Cable Gland Bushing) and stick the probe through that and screw it into the tee. You can also buy them in Stainless Steel, but they're a little more expensive.

You can also buy pipe plug thermistor probes that are NPT threaded.

Thanks very much Dave!
Okay, I did find the Cable Gland Bushings online and those look pretty good. I also found the threaded thermistors once I used the "NPT" keyword (I was using threaded).
Thanks again. Really appreciate it!
Now I just need to figure out where exactly in the plumbing scheme, to install that tee. I'll look around here on the forum...

I recall reading a post of yours somewhere that you ended up putting your sensor on your autofill line 'cause you weren't happy about it being on a flow line. I'm at that "determine sensor location" stage now and would like to see your research, but can't find the thread. Remember where it is?

No, not me.
My pool water temperature probe is installed in a 2"x2"x2" tee (using a 2" slip to 1/2" threaded bushing), located between the filter pump and and the filter.

r.

Well, darn. Was so sure it was you. Reading too many threads. 🔨:) Do remember these pics though and bought the gland for a 2x2x1/2 tee. If yours is between pump & filter, then that's going to be my target.

Any reason for using 2x2x2 + bushing instead of 2x2x1/2? Saw a bonding gizmo somewhere that says to use a bushing instead of a native thread, so maybe same reason here? What did you use for insullation?
