We are in the middle of our fiberglass pool install. The installer noticed a damaged area of the pool, above where the water line will be. Thursday pool is sending someone out to fix the problem. I'm just not sure how upset I should be or is it not much of a big deal.

The 3rd day started on Friday but they couldn't get much done. They had planned on plumbing and backfilling and filling the pool. Problem is no gravel companies were open because of the 4th so they'll be here on Monday to finish up

I'd have them fix it before any further work is done. If it's not to your complete satisfaction, they need to replace it. Tough, but it's their problem, not yours.
What a nice flat yard for a pool!! I wish we'd been so lucky.
Good to see gravel is being used as fill, did they lay a bed of gravel for the pool base?
I agree with Keith, don't be in a hurry to accept a repair. See how it looks and feels. Can you take a pic for us? Point out the location?

I've already ordered a test kit in the link, added the ph tester and salt water tester to get over 100 for free shipping.
They used gravel as the base and took their time with the base. When they set the pool in it was 1/4" off level using lasers.

The guy coming to fix it is from Thursday pools so hopefully he knows what he's doing. Its about the size of a half dollar and you can't really see it from the other side. I'm glad the builder noticed it. Its about 2-3 inches from the top of the fiberglass, in the middle of the pool
My builder is having a hard time finding someone to finish the concrete deck. I guess the guy he had when we signed the contract screwed up so he isn't using him anymore. Then the second guy (mainly a paver guy) acted like the cost would be 1-2 more per sq ft so I asked him to give me a quote for pavers and it ended up being double. Then the third guy came and measured, gave the builder a quote that would be about what he priced for me in the contract. Next day the concrete guy comes back with a graded schedule for the price and you'd have to put in 2000+ sq ft to get the best price. He measured 1900 sq ft and I started laughing and asked did he forget the subtract the pool from the estimate because that's about how far off he was. I think he has 1 more guy that he uses but we'll see. I just want cantilever coping with a light brushed concrete deck.
Does anyone know a good concrete guy that can do the cantilever coping in the middle TN area? Thanks

The back side of the pool seems to be ok. It's almost like there was an empty space behind the coating and when pressure was applied it cracked. Too bad it wasn't where they could put a return jet, then you wouldn't even need to repair it. I'm trying to think of what else they could put there instead of repairing it. Anyway, When the pool showed up the builder was smiling ear to ear and I said "I thought we ordered granite color". He immediately stopped smiling and couldn't say anything. I started laughing but I don't think he thought it was very funny. Later on I was telling his equipment guy about it and he laughed but said that he'd ordered the wrong color on a couple of pools this year.

I hope the hole, wrong colors, and concrete installer problems aren’t a bad sign of more trouble to come. We are getting the exact same fiberglass pool as my neighbor, but I decided against the cantilever deck. Seen too many kids scrape their knees or bump their head on neighbors pool edge, we are just going to have the smooth fiberglass edge.

How about adding a Polaris type all wall outlet there so you can snap in a homemade cooling fountain like we have. See signature line for Skippy's pool cool fountain. Details tp the parts listed further down the thread.

Is it in a location they can add an other skimmer? That would be the best bet...especially if they are only planning on one skimmer.
They've already installed just one skimmer and all of the return jets are on the side that has the blemish. I think I'll just talk to the guy when he comes out tomorrow. I would expect them to back up their work with some sort of guarantee (should be lifetime if I'm willing to take their damaged pool) The more I think about it the more upset I get. In all honestly they should have to refund some of the purchase price. I keep thinking how I would handle it if I were buying a car and they pulling it around with a big dent in the door.
They could always say that it was damaged in transport which is not covered in the warranty.

That's still not your problem.
I don't know what the business is like in your area but here in Central NC, pool builders go in and out of business like clockwork. Their "lifetime" warranties aren't worth the paper they are printed on.
So the dig sheet for the 41’ Goliath pool from Thursday pool lists the gallons at 17,000 but I’ve seen it listed at 19,700 on other pool builder websites. It’s hard to believe it’s the lower number when a pool calculator shows something like 22-23k. I realize there are steps and other stuff but it’s kind of annoying that the numbers don’t match. The problem is the pool builder used 17k to purchase the equipment and I think 19,700 would be ok but not ideal. I’m really sick of this Crud. I don’t understand why everything has to be so difficult. This is the worst purchase I’ve ever made. Everything has to be through a dealer and a ton of information isn’t available to the general public.

17,000 sounds right to me.

19,700 is the correct size, I called Thursday pool and asked this morning. They just have it wrong on their dig sheet. So much for the amazing quality control ISO 9001. You can't even get the size of your pool right.
The guy has come and fixed the spot, I guess it looks fine. I can tell where it is maybe because I know where the spot was to begin with.
At some point today the builder should be showing up. 5 day install on the contract, I guess that doesn't mean Crud either.
They may be estimating the pool size but remember that the water sits about 5-6" below the top of the pool. Almost all pool builders get this wrong and over estimate. Use your water meter to help establish it, if you can avoid a lot of household water use while filling.
