Did you let your FC level drop precipitously since you fixed it before?
No, I’ve been watching it almost daily. I just had not checked it in two days and it was at 0.5. The cya had gotten too low to about 20 so we raised it back to about 40 but it’s closer to 30 I think. I think it needs to be higher it’s super hot here. I’m more worried about the spots I see but I’ve been brushing and checking levels daily so maybe that will help.

As for those spots if the puck you held against it made it disappear in that spot, that means its "organic"....i.e. algae again. :(
Your chlorine has been kept too low, or it wasnt entirely killed by your previous recent SLAM. Time to re-do.

Yes for sure a FC of 0.5 is an invitation to algae to move back in. How high had you been aiming for after the SLAM? And yes, you probably would benefit from a slightly higher CYA.....how about taking it up to 40?

Are you following this FC/CYA Chart? --> FC/CYA Levels
Yes I am following that. I’m trying to keep it around 5-6 right now. I think it needs to be at 40 as well. I added chlorine yesterday and got it back to 4 and then this morning at 2 already.

yes you need to add what the pool needs PLUS whatever you expect to lose daily to the sun. So if your daily lose isv2-3ppm, add that to what you want to end up with at the end of the day.
Ok and do this daily. In evening? I wish I could find a good balance between liquid chlorine and having my chlorinator on with the trichlor tabs in there. That would help bring up my CYA a little bit I have it at two right now on the chlorinator with two tablets in there and this morning when I check the chlorine it was 1.5 I just added 88 ounces of liquid chlorine to get it to seven which would leave me at five by the end of the day

Evening add is better since it can work overnight and does not get burned off by the sun. Then FC levels should stay the same from night to morning and you haven't lost anything. If adding during the day, some of it gets burned off right away by the sun and you'll be low by evening.
