Longtime TFP lurker. Excited to finally have a thread to share of my own.

13 x 30
Salt water
Pentair 1.5HP 2-speed (might explore variable speed)
Pentair 150 sq ft cartridge filter
6 ft tanning ledge
Swimout facing house (can't wait for this feature)
12-ft wide deck to west of pool (Dominican Coral Stone)
Coping: Domincan Coral Stone

We broke ground late last week. Our pool will be a simple design, with minimal decking. The pool will be set somewhat far back from house, but really have had a chance over the last few years to conceptualize the sunlight.

PB forecasts a 4-6 month process based on Miami summer rains and COVID. Originally, we were at 12 weeks from permit approval. Hopefully it all goes well and we are swimming sooner rather than later.

Like my friend Ryanrichard25 (very similar design/style), we were slated to start on Memorial Day weekend. But the impossible rains (14 inches in 72 hours) pushed us back a few days. Luckily the excavation went well. It's a bigger mess than I anticipated.

Get a larger cartridge filter do it needs to be cleaned less often. Small cartridge filters seem to be a Florida thing.
 
Good clean dig right there! Now have you done your first job with your pool? Go out there with the plans and tape measure. Is it long, deep, wide, etc enough? Add about 8" for the steel, shell, and plaster.

Yes, absolutely. I even quoted you by name. Kim on TroubleFree recommends that we do this. My wife and I were out there doing the math. Actually seems a tiny bit bigger than the pool + 8 inches, so we are good there. :)

Somehow...it isn't. We had a good two or three hours of rain yesterday, and the backyard is mosquito city like never before. But there is no standing water in the pool area.

Forecast called for rain today. It's been gloomy but nothing yet. The men have been here since 7:15am. Oh yeah!

Well we are with a (hopefully) brief hiccup as the guys to form the pool will need to return. The pool is six inches too deep. I'm not sure if they have to do all of their work again.

Is this a bizarre reason for a delay? Everyone that came over to see our yard commented on how deep the pool looked. It's not like the other dimensions where we could measure ourselves...I have no idea how deep the site should have been.
 
seems it would cost more to change rebar and grade than just be a little deeper unless it a code thing. they can also use more concrete in bottom / but at top it can mess with the steps or ledges. i would not think this should be a big deal or a big delay........

Actually, I misunderstood. It isn't making the pool shallower but bringing the edge/sides up, so that the coping doesn't rest below the surface. Hoping it can get done this week.
