I would call it 7.8 also........I hold a white plate (I got a cheap, plastic one from the Dollar store) up behind the tube to help me dial in the match better.
So here is your shopping list:
-2 2cup PLASTIC measuring cups-1 is for the muriatic acid and the other is for all other chemicals
-white plate to hold up behind the pH tube to help color match
-new toothbrush so the pool can have your old one (great for cleaning around the return and skimmer
-Something and some where to store the muriatic acid. It can NOT be stored inside by metal or by the chlorine-they do not play well together. The M.A. fumes will cause metal to rust. Most people get a plastic bucket BUT make sure the lid can be vented. It can be store outside as it does not care about sun or heat. If you have kids you will want it where they can get to it.
-Find YOUR best source for LIQUID chlorine-some pool stores sell it but you have to put a deposit down on their jugs (it is worth it)
-muriatic acid-the 31% kind from Lowes or Home Depot. It will be outside by the pool stuff in a box with 2 jugs in it.
-PLASTIC drink cups and plate to have dinner by the pool!!!

Some updated pictures 
They repainted the garage trim and it looks much better. As long a the weather holds out, we are set to complete concrete Saturday and then plaster next week!

That edge on the spa is awesome! Great idea.
We have decided to add a pool rail for our pool but would like it to come from the concrete to the tanning ledge (see 1st picture for reference). My thoughts are to use the attached rail from SR Smith however, would we need to cut the one side so it would fit properly. Has anyone had to do this before or see any issue with cutting the rail to fit?
I also attached a picture that is drawn on to show my idea of the rail in case my description did not make sense. We have already purchased the anchors but not the rail.

in Granbury, Home Depot has 2 and 3 gallon cases of Liquid Chlorine (pool shock) in the back corner of the outdoor area. Also cases of Muriatic acid (2 gallons to the box) Leslie's next to Chili's has 4 gallon cases of 12.5% HASA Chlorine. $21 a case I think. The HD is by far the better deal.

LOVE the fire pit! What will you put in there? Do you know about fire glass? SO many pretty colors to use!
Rail-I like your idea but know that kids will use it as monkey bars there so be REAL sure they are installed good and tight OR go off the coping with them. As far as cutting them I will take a couple of people who might have ideas on that. @jimmythegreek @bdavis466

I try to avoid Wal-Mart in general but might have to check out the pool section
Depends on the rail diameter and the cups. Most rails are flared at ends to fit the cups. If you cut it it would need to be flared or swaged out to fit. I've never tried it on stainless but a muffler shop with a hydraulic bender would be able to modify the end easily
We are using 1/2" nugget fire glass for the fire pit...looks more teal than in the picture and a very close match to the pool tile

Your pool is fantastic looking. There are more stylish pool railing options available, at a cost of course. Here's an example that also solves your issue of needing to cut it.

The pool is looking Great. I'm sure you're ready to use it with it getting hotter.
The new kerfunkle....it is difficult to see in the pictures but when the elevations were done, they did not at all account for the coping so we have a 4-inch slope from the pool to the pergola 
They did put a drain between the slope and pergola concrete and said they sloped the concrete but I have major concerns about drainage and not just at the slope but on the side and back of the garage and pool as well (I included pictures for that as well). Any suggestions?

Sigh.....................nope, nope, nope...............that will NOT work!!!! Your garage WILL get flooded. You KNOW how it rains there in TX. The same as it does here, fast, hard, and heavy
Here are my gut thoughts. They have two choices:
-take the lower stuff out and I mean all out and repour it so it is level with a slight slope to the back side of the garage WITH a GREAT plan on how that area will drain and where the water will end up.
-pour onto the pergola area to build it up BUT I don't like this at all as I really don't know if you can/should pour concrete on top of each other.
You know what I am going to say next.................put in WRITING your concerns about this and ask him when he will be out there with a solution! Try to have another adult there to witness what he says. After he leaves put in writing what was discuses and send that to him!
