Pool company guy screwed up...

If he just added cya its likely not fully dissolved in the water yet so your reading will be artificially low. I’d hold off adding cya for a few days so you don’t overshoot the correct amount and have to partially drain pool again!
I didn’t just add CYA....... this is CYA in pool from last year. Came down naturally from normal level of 70 to 30 with winterization and refill.

I added chlorine to bring up FC to around 14+ (After lowering pH to about 7.3).
Can’t test again until between 1-2pm ET because of work so going to assume my additions were correct per Pool Math and will reassess later the FC levels.

Just out of curiosity, for CYA testing I used the reagents from last year. Any reason to believe these would have gone bad already and I’d need to use the new reagents I have? My only fear is having a bad CYA number due to older reagents.

just took updated FC and CC and put into Pool Math.
FC: 17
CC: 0

bright and sunny here so I expect that FC to come down a bit today and I’ll keep it above 12. How long am I doing this given no CC being detected?

Just ordered a pool cleaner from Marina :giggle: Went with the Warrior SI / Active 30 as it had the dual baskets already + bluetooth control was only an extra $30.

Great news.

9:07pm
FC: 13.5
CC: 0.5

5:13am
FC: 13.5
CC: 0.5

Pool is clear as glass. OCLT passed. Love TFP.

Heading to Home Depot today to pick up Salt and will start dissolving CYA later today once FC falls a bit more.
Thanks so much everyone for the help and encouragement on my first SLAM. Incredibly painless.

White tube socks hold 2 pounds of CYA with enough room to knot the top. Might not dissolve as fast as a knee high, but they are readily available in most drawers.

Be sure and post a picture of your beautiful clear water! We love pictures! And thank you for being a Gold Supporter!
Will do! Is this a good place for questions about moving to a VS pump or take it to another section of the forum?

You don't have to wait for the FC to lower to add the CYA or salt.

Have we told you how to add the CYA? Just in case not.............put it in a sock (like you wear) and hang it over the side right in front of a return. You can squeeze the sock to help it dissolve.
