Best Places to Buy Liquid Chlorine

I was shocked when I went into Kroger for something and they had Kem-Tek 10% for 3.99. That is the same price as Lowes, but actually stored inside and fresh.

As an FYI, Ocean Odd Lot in Shrewsberry, New Jersey will be closing for next season. There are rumors that they are looking for a new location, but at this point nothing is confirmed. They sell the 12.5% for $2.99 a gallon or by the case of 4. The South Plainfield store will remain open. I even took a step further and spoke to the manufacturer and even to deliver a pallet, the price would be like $3.50, and the reason is that Odd Lot ships there own Liquid Shock.

Walmart has been funny with stock and prices over the last year. I even believe the 8.25% is now 6%, but not 100% certain.

In Houston TX and surrouding burbs, the best price I have found is NAPCO Chemical in Spring (roughly FM 2920 and Spring Cypress rd.) Its $1.68 for 1 gallon of 12.5%. 5 Gallons was $9.40 after tax. Make sure you have an appropriate contrainer, and that it has a large fill opening, as their hose is at least 1" OD. Too bad it is far away from me. Works out to $.13 per oz. !!!!

Next best I have found is Aldi's, $1.39 for 8.25% 64 oz. works out to $.26 per oz.

Leslie's pool in Sugar Land is $18 for four gallons of 12.5% (guy said maybe 15% on phone, really doubt that though.) I have not bought here. $.28 per oz.
NAPCO went up to $2/gal after tax for 12.5%. Still a steal! I'm a frequent customer there now and it's about a 10 minute detour on the way to and fro work. I struggle with the carboys too but found a spout on Amazon that helps... I'm thinking about getting a 30 gal drum next summer to minimize trips but I'm not sure if it will degrade too much if it's in the garage for a month... I transfer it to a HASA chlorinator each week, about 5 gallons per week...

In Missouri City, TX I get mine at Hope Depot on Hwy 6. A case has 3 gallons of 10% in it. If you buy 4 cases you get $1/case and it comes down to just under $9/case. Always look for the best Julian date. Sometimes there are wide ranges but usually have fresh product.

Here on Long Island, NY there is a store called Island Recreation (4 stores on the Island). They always run adds in the paper, mailings and email specials for $0.99 cents per gallon of 6%. A case of 4 jugs is $4 .30 with tax. There is another store, Ocean State Job Lot that always has 12% for $2.99 ($3.24 with tax). Obviously the 6% is cheaper, but you'll have to store twice as much. What ever is left over in the garage, over the winter, we use for the laundry and to bleach the patio in the spring. Still strong enough to clean and it makes it look like a brand new patio every year. Way better and easier than power washing. Only draw back to the gallon jugs is running out of room in the recycle bin rather fast, lol.

Last weekend, I saw Walmart putting out their Pool Essentials liquid chlorine. I checked the dates and they were from November '19, so not leftover stock from last summer.

They are getting back in the game in our neck of the woods, too. Julian date was 357 and was $3.64/gal (at least I *think* that's how much it was).

Menards: Being based in Wisconsin, Menards should at least be listed there too. From their web site: "stores located in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Wyoming"
Also Menards has Crystal Bleach 8.25% (by weight) 121oz normally for $2.97 but is frequently on sale (as it is now) for $1.99, useful when the 12% is not on sale. It is where I buy all of my chlorine in Iowa.
Menards is were I got mine last year,,,were in Iowa are you? DesMoines here...

Tucson E-konomy Pools 12.5% is now 4.49 plus tax, with the 12th one free. Got my free one when buying 8 yesterday so total was around 4.27/gal. Doesn't include deposit on crates and bottles.

Ace had 10% probably old, 2 gals for 9.99.

Things have been pretty crazy around here (and everywhere?!?) so this *may* be posted already, but for those of you that have an Atwood's near you, they have 10% chlorine on sale for $1.99 a gallon. I stocked up a couple of days ago and the julian date was a little less than a month ago.

Anyone know a bulk liquid chlorine source in Austin TX? I built a Stenner pump injector which has made life a lot easier but I'd love to find a source for liquid chlorine in larger than the 1gal jugs I've been getting from Lowes or HomeDepot (best price, highest concentrations I've found thus far). I feel bad about constantly blowing through so much plastic.

Curious if HD has stock these days since there's a run on bleach. Hopefully it's nice and fresh if they've been restocking.

Just checked, no stock (4-9-20)
