Pool green no bleach available

My wife was at Walmart the other day and I told her to look in the pool section to see if they had liquid chlorine, which they did. So she brought home 5 jugs....... and the date code is 19 353! So its already 92 days old. :-(
 
Anyone else in the same situation of needing to add both CYA and Chlorine... as liquid chlorine is in short supply nationally, why not consider dichlor or tricolor - powder or pucks - instead of adding CYA and chlorine separately? Pool math will tell you how much you need to add to get your CYA correct, and hey, free chlorine!

Ok I just want to let the community know that I left a message for trouble free test kits to call me for help with expedited shipments for some reagents I am low on yesterday and she called me this am on my way to work and helped me get my shipment overnighted. Thank you that was great customer service. I making progress and can see the bottom of the deep end. Thanks folks!

I agree on the pucks! good call. I am building this myself. It's been a a ton of work, but I am literally saving thousands! Plus I like doing things on my own. The feeling of pride and accomplishment is unparalleled!

Time will tell but I think things are stocking back up..Several stores in Atlanta have toilet paper and unless the " I only have 350 rolls" people don't go buy more we should recover.
Plus I think Pres is about to lift country restrictions, a reporter asked weeks or months and he said " I am not thinking Months" We will see
 
Yeah, in these crazy times you can use pucks or powder to raise your FC and CYA (or calcium) but I would be careful to use PoolMath and my testing kit to monitor my levels carefully lest I overshoot my goal and cause myself grief. Keep an eye open for liquid also though!!

PoolMath can tell you how much each puck or ounce of powder will provide in FC and CYA (or calcium). Make use of your tools :)

That is what our has as well. At least Walmart stores the stuff indoors. Yes I bought it and am using it up first. Preliminary measurements are showing its okay so far... Add a little more than normal...
 
I got a the store 15 mins before it opened. There were already 20 or so people in a very long line. I headed to TP first and it is a good thing as there was only one lone box of it on the WHOLE shelf! :shock: We were handed one and moved on. It was GONE in 5 mins. sigh.....................BUT I am set for now.
 
I personally feel the bleach concentrate “reduction” is a matter of how you store it. I store mine in my house in the closet in the AC. I have used my pool essential Walmart LC 6-9 months after I got it and have had no issues with “reduced concentration”. I calculate my FC need using Pool Math and add it accordingly then I measure next day. Always dead on the money. It was an issue of degrading from 10% to 6% it would be obvious.
 
I store mine in my garage - average temp inside is probably about 80F during the summer. A while back, I needed to SLAM, so I purchased some 10% at Leslies. I didn't get the results that Pool Math told me and wrote on here because I thought I was doing something wrong. I then learned how to read the Julian Date code and discovered that the bottles were OVER 1 year old! I can't believe a pool store had bleach that old.
