Converting to salt, just order Circupool CORE35!

Have a 10K above ground pool, semi high bathing load due to two teens. Spend some time searching around for the best bang for my buck, I ordered the CORE35 with the free 1 dollar upgrade from the CORE15! I also ordered a timer for the pump and SWCG! Should arrive next week but going to get the pool up and going this weekend. Finding bleach at this point is a frivolous waste of time thanks to the pandemic, picked up some 10% from the local pool store and salt to get me up and going!

Will give a review after install! hope I didn't do overkill on upgrading to the CORE35 but the CORE15 wasn't double the size.

CORE 35 should do well for you. Note that the CORE35 adjusts SWG % in 25% increments. You will need to do most of your SWG chlorine output adjustment by varying pump runtime with such and oversize cell.

What is your normal pump runtime?

Honestly, I’ve never had a timer, it’s a two speed pump so I usually just left it on low 24/7 but know that’s overkill. I have a robotic vacuum so I know I can cut down my run time drastically. It is full sun all day. Will need to also test my CYA to see what it’s at, last season it was at 70 due to traveling and relying on pucks while I was out of town. Which is also why I decided to make this move.

At 25% output to generate 3 ppm of chlorine a day you would need to run your pump/SWG for 17.25 hours.

Since you are used to running your pump on low 24/7, another option would be to keep running your pump 24/7 and just use the timer to control when the salt cell is running.. and for how long.

I am in the process of mounting mine, buy the test kit not the strips..I bought the strips first but like the kit better..

Thanks! Thats why I went with it, I'm a little uneducated on plumbing my self so I went for something simple. I already ordered the test kits and my replacement TF-100 which should be here any day. The EDGE 35 will be delivered today. I picked up some Chlorine from HomeDepot over the weekend to keep everything running until I can get the Edge installed!

I did buy 6 bags this past weekend and will plan on putting at least 4 of them in based on the calculator. it calls for 6, but would rather be safe than sorry!

Mine is around 20K and I think I added 14 bags, what brand salt did you buy? Just avoid Clorox brand

The diamond stuff from Home Depot. I did read that was TFP approved.

Let us know how your install goes, mine took a few hours but I literally redid all the plumbing from both returns to the heater, I had a ball valve freeze which kind of push me to do an SWG .

Got the install knocked out in about 40 minutes. Had to convert from 1.5 to 2 to install the cell so I just got 2 PVC adapters for that one section. Let it sit for two hours and fired the pump back up! Water temps just below 60 so the cold water light was on so I turned it back off. But we are in the 80's and 70's for the next week so it should warm up plenty. Put some liquid chlorine in and dumped 4 bags of salt until my new test kit for salt and my TF-100 shows up this week!

Nice, FYI, I did read discount salt can get you a cap so you can remove the cell and still run the pump.
They didn't show one on the site for the edge but when I emailed then they gave me the part number. For the edge it's the same housing without the cell part inside.

IMO, salt and a correct salt reading seem to be tricky, and I have always ended up over salting. So I recommend when you get close, but below where you are supposed to be, you let things stabilize for a couple of days. I’ve always had the suspicion that the SWG’s salt reading lags for a couple of days.
Also when adding salt, shut off the SWG for awhile until the salt dissolves.
Aside from that, the rest is easy.

You'll have to let me know how you like the CORE 35. And yes that isn't grossly oversized, it just means that you can run it less and it will last longer for you. the 15K would have been too small (that is the minimum recommended for your pool but here 2x is the minimum recommended).

Get the Taylor 1766 and start adding salt now. Takes a day or 2 to give a true reading.
Also if you go slow you can make sure you don’t go too high.
I have the Edge40 but debated the core, should be a simple installation ?

it was a very straight forward and easy install! Took me less than an hour. I’d make sure you have the pvc parts to complete it! But it was so easy!
