We are wanting to put up a mesh fence to finish enclosing the deck on our AGP. Child safety is the number one concern clearly. We are looking at the brand, PoolFence DIY, but concerned about the strength of the posts (aluminum). We want a fence that has the ability to be taken down quickly if desired as well. We'd also like one that's DIY. Finally, are mesh fences in general able to withstand winters? We need whatever we install to remain all year. Thanks for any guidance as to brands that work well, vs ones to stay away!

It's only about 2 feet high but I know Lowe's carries something like that. I think they might offer higher height ones. You buy them in sections with stakes and those also serve to connect them together. Also has a gate module. Worked perfect to keep the little dogs out of my inground pool w bubble cover when we weren't there to supervise.
The dogs were owned by my ex. After she moved out I pulled each stake and neatly stacked all the fence panels in the shed. Mind you this was just a temporary situation. I've got the pool in the backyard surrounded by a 6ft cedar fence.
Best part, the stake anchors are still in the ground and practically invisible. If I wanted to I could put it right back. Easily.

Yes, we've been looking at PoolFence DIY. Wasn't sure if it's the strongest as far as rods. etc. and if mesh fences can stand up to being set up all winter. Are there any other brands anyone's tried with good luck?

about 5 years ago, so it's been through 5 winters. It's held up fine- no visible areas of damage. This company appears to be different than the one referenced above. They sent me a loaner hammer drill and bit that I drilled 65 holes with.

I've had a Poolfence DIY fence up for a couple of years and it works well. Are you installing into concrete?
The panel lengths are adjustable with a little (easy) cutting and reassembly. The poles work fine, no issues with the material being weak. We've removed sections for parties and that's easy to do too.

I am not sure what a hollow composite deck is. They have a few different types of anchors. Be sure to use the correct type for your deck. All of the struct support comes from the anchors being in solid.
We'll be sure then to check into the best anchors, thank you! The hollow composite is basically the fake wood type deck, and each 'board' is hollow. The kind that's expensive and supposed to last forever and not fade, warp, etc. Not true, lol!
I have installed poolfencediy at two houses. The instructions are pretty straight forward (although the gate installation instructions didn't 100% match the gate we received). However I called their support number on a Sunday afternoon and the owner picked up and described what needed to be done. I think they had just updated the gate and had not updated the online instructions yet. They told me to call back as many times as needed, and offered to video chat me if i needed it. Very helpful.
I already had a large hammer drill, so I just ordered the correct long bit from Amazon for it.
I purchased the drill guide when I ordered the fence. They say you can do it without it, but I thought it was invaluable to make it perfect and to get the angles correctly.
Double check every hole direction you are going to drill (which angle you are doing) before drilling. If you pick the wrong angle the fence won't be taut.

Were you drilling into concrete? We have a hollow composite deck we'll be anchoring it to. What will be needing for something like that?
Mine was into concrete. But I see this on the FAQ of the fence website:

If the deck is really close to the dirt/ ground below; you can use another method. Essentially, you will drill the holes as usual. From there you will use ½” L Copper (found at your local hardware store). For example: if your deck is 10” inches above the ground, you can cut the ½” L Copper to 18-24” Lengths. Simply hammer them in to the ground at the proper angle until the copper is flush with the top of the deck. From there you will install the fence as usual. You will want to use a 5/8” diameter bit for this type of installation.

The drill guide will still be useful, I'd definitely get one. You won't need a hammer drill unless you're drilling into concrete or something hard like that. You'll just need a drill and bit that can drill into your deck material. I'd call the company about whether or not the hollow deck material can support it.
With hollow composite you will pre drill first right theu the deck and them screw into blocks underneath basically sandwiching the decking between it. Theres not enough meat in the hollow stuff to grab onto for strength
