MasterTemp 400 board replaced AFS LIGHT ON

Hi, I had no lights on panel so I replaced my main board. Once power applied, I got service heater light and a AFS light. I can reset power and all lights go off until I hit pool button for 5 seconds. It doesn’t immediately turn anything on. I also have hold the off button down for awhile before it turns everything off. While researching this problem, I also discovered I have a bad by-pass as I found the black valve looking piece in my line. In the past when my heater ran, it clanked and cycled. Is there a master reset or any setup required on the board after install?

Welcome to TFP.

Did you replace the broken bypass valve?

The air flow switch (AFS) senses the pressure drop across the air metering orifice. Does the blower turn on? With no air flow the heater will not turn on. Check the wiring connections to the board. Especially the blower connection.

I’ve ordered the by-pass so it’s not fixed yet. The blower does not come on. Actually nothing happens when the pool button is pushed except a temp reading, service heater and AFS light. It doesn’t start anything.

Focus on figuring out why the blower is not running.

The main board has now issued a E01 error and a system service light. The light under panel next to temp fault connection is now on. I also can’t get board to shut down without cutting power. Any ideas what’s going on?

The "E01" code you see displayed is an indication of an open water temperature sensor.

I think you need to check the wiring you touched when you changed the board.

Clanking is indication the bypass valve was operating and you may have heard it break. Once you fix the valve try to start and check the error codes. With the E001 you may have a bad sensor or bad/incorrect connection.
