SF Bay Area New Pool

No autofill.

Patio is proceeding nicely and equipment delivered today. Will be checking it out to make sure it is correct before plumbers start installation.

Just used my TF100 to test my fill water. Results are:

Cl 1ppm
pH 7.5
calcium 175 ppm
TA 160

Any concerns? Thanks in advance.

Kept an eye on the plumbers. Equipment in place and the electricians should be here on Monday to connect things. Getting very close. ?

Your water is very close to mine just over the hill from you - with the similar high TA fill water my PH is always drifting higher, which happens when I top the pool up during the swim season constantly driving up my TA and thus my PH...I added an acid tank and injection pump to make my PH corrections easier for convenience only.

Back to my very first fill I bumped the CH up to 225-250 and I don't think I haven added any more calcium chloride in 5 swim seasons. I now use my lifetime supply of leftovers in my hot tub when I refill it a few times a year...

With the initial fill water having a CH of 175ppm you will just need to bump it up a tiny amount - after that it will probably rise a tiny amount over time when you top up the pool due to splash out, splash over the safety cover vault wall, and any evaporation. I use our big winter rain storms to help drop the CH if it gets in the high 300's. We received over 48" of rain here last year. If I open my cover during a storm I can use that rain water as a low CH water replacement - this will also drop my Salt and CYA a bit so in the spring I will top those back up to the correct amounts.

Thanks for the insight santacruzpool.

Equipment was installed and hooked up this weekend. Flow cell was installed too close to an elbow so they will move it after the salt cell. Cover installation is scheduled for Friday and final city inspection early next week. That means plaster and fill coming up soon. ??

Looking forward to having water in and scrubbing my walls with my new whale tail brush. ?

The plaster team was here today and we have our pebble finish installed. The arrived at 6:45 to beat traffic and had a lot of guys working. Tomorrow is the acid wash and the start of the fill. ???
it’s nice it will fill over the weekend so I can keep an eye on it.

One issue I am having is getting my OmniLogic registered. Every time I try and connect via the app to set it up I get “MSP not found”. Tried following a detailed troubleshooting guide I found online with not much luck. Will call the PB setup guy tomorrow and see what he can do.

PRETTY!!!!

I know you know what I am going to say but I have to say it make sure you DO know................do NOT stop the flow of water from the hoses once it starts filling. Make sure the hose is on the lowest part of the pool with something (sock) on the metal part to keep it from marring the plaster.

Have you tested your fill water yet?

Don’t forget to take meter reading before starting to fill...start with CH on the low end - as the water evaporates in the summer, and fill water CH is high, it will climb - drain partially before winter rains. Same applies to CYA....etc.

I thought you had but was too lazy to scroll up LOL

Good job and look at the recommend chemicals to see what is used to work on each area of your levels. The pH will be your biggest "customer" for any chemicals-muriatic acid will be your friend for that. Do you have a good place picked out to store it yet?

I had same problem with MSP and my hayward automation

Turns out the wireless connection was spotty

Hard wired the network connection instead

I used a power line connector

I am gong to switch to hardwired also; I already have a cable ran to the box. I spent an hour on the phone with Hayward tech support Friday but got the system registered.
We filled all day Friday slowing down when the PB had to fix the Badu jets (that I found incorrect) and finished at 1:30 am. It’s been a busy few days but nice seeing the water in the pool. The PB guy who sets up the equipment comes Monday but I put some bleach in to get a FC of 2ppm and acid to bring pH to about 7.4. I didn’t want to do too much until he adjusts for the plaster breakin. I can’t believe I don’t have a filled photo to post. ?
I am sure I will be posting questions and test results soon so stand by.
