Final bid received! It's based off the old drawing but close enough to get an idea of what my final cost will be. (Not expecting it to be 100% correct though, adding a 10% fudge factor.)

I called the excavator and he's ready to start ASAP. Not sure if that's good or bad. He's coming over tomorrow to verify access and what not.

Excavator is starting tomorrow. I checked them out, they do work for 2 of the better PB's I researched, maybe all of them.

3 days of jack hammering, but it's starting to wind down. Excavation/steel company owner says the steel will go in Thursday or Friday depending on if the plumbers want to do plumbing before or after steel.

I might have a pool shell by next week. I'm going to need a coupler and another hose to water the gunite.

If you can get the timer to go on a sprinkler to help you water it as well.

I have everyone penciled in except for the electrician. This feels like it's really coming together now.

@foo.c im thinking of going OB as well. Inposted a thread but no amswer so far. I was wondering how are you dealing with the smaller items such as the main drain cover, or the valves? Is each sub providing material? Skimmers, did you buy it yourself?

The guy that did my design spec'd it all out and the plumbers are supplying the hardware. I'm more of a manager of the process.

The dig is done, I think. The faraway kid roughly 6'1" and with the pool finishing 6" out of the ground, it looks just about perfect.

1. By designer, you mean the engineer that did the plan?
2. Did this person help you with the equipment?
3. When you call the plumber did you just send them the design/plan or did you have to specify each part?

I sent them the design and then they broke it down and itemized it and sent me a quote.

I'd say to find a plumber that has done a lot of pools and give them a call. So far everyone I've called has been very helpful.

He's only 13 and almost as tall as me. Makes me wonder if I should have spec'd a deeper pool, LOL.

The outfit handling, coping, tile, plaster, and decking is 2-3 weeks out, so it looks like at least a week, maybe 2 of nothing happening. Bummer.

Our 13 year old almost 6' kid is also only getting a 6' deep pool to jump into. I think he will survive. It will seem deeper once you get coping in, and even deeper if you have a raised wall or something else higher for him to jump off of.

By the way, 2-3 weeks out for coping, tile, decking etc seems like perfect timing. I assume you have rebar, gunite, plumbing and appropriate inspections lined up for the next 2-3 weeks?

He'll definitely survive. First world problems ...

Rebar and plumbing are supposedly going to be done this week. Electrical and then gunite early next week. So if those go perfectly there could be some downtime. I live outside the city, no permits or inspections are required per the county. (There is a certificate of compliance which is more about flood plain issues and I'm not in the flood plain.)
