Hayward E Command 4, will it run a salt cell?

Hello everyone,

I was ready to pull the trigger on a Circupool SWG especially with the labor day upgrade going on right now. BUT, I have a Hayward E Command 4 controller that has the capability to "run" a Hayward SWG. According to the Hayward manual, the E command 4 can run an "external" salt cell. It looks like it is very limited control and I would still need the Aqua Rite controller and T-15 cell. It looks like I would have to capability to change the percent output to the cell from the E Command 4, but all other functions would still be controlled by the Aqua Rite. Is this correct?

I'm not sure there's much of an advantage to going with a Hayward SWG with what appears to be limited functionality from the E command 4. I guess one advantage would be that I could change the desired output % remotely from my smart phone etc, but not much else.

Does this sound correct and is there really any advantage to going with a Hayward SWG when paired with the E command 4? I hope this makes sense....

Then you will find you will not be adjusting the SWG % much. I don’t think connecting the SWG to the E Command will buy you much. Get whatever SWG you think is best for you.

You should wire the SWG power to the same relay on the E Command as your pump is wired to so they both turn on and off together.

Correct. I have an E Command 4 and the T-15 cell. It draws power from the E Command breaker pannel, but control is at the Aquarite panel. I think turning a knob is easier than scrolling through the E Command menus when I need to make an adjustment.

So far, so good. I've made two adjustments to my cell output and it seems to be holding nicely in the Texas sun at 40%. It beats putting in a half gallon of 10% Hypochlorite every day.
