I started from yesterday to take care of the maintenance. I added 3 lbs of Clorox shock. 6oz of Algae guard and 3 cups of muriatic acid. Yet to do the water test today.

Cleaned the DE filter and added 6 lbs of D.E.

Anything else to take care ?

Advance thanks for all your help and support.

Jo,

Do you want to take care of your pool the same way your pool guy did.. If so, just continue to dump in pool store magic and hope things don't turn green too soon...

Or, if you are looking for a better way, you should read through our Pool School

Here is a good place to start... ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry

The TFP pool care process is based on testing your own pool water then adding just what you need.. Instead of adding what the pool store tells you that you need.

Let us know if you want to step up to taking care of your own pool the right way.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Post a set of complete test results and lets get you started on the right path :testresults:(y)(y)

With a SWG and a TF-100 test kit, which is the same kit I use - and is the recommended kit for TFP pool care, all you should really need to add with some regularity is Muriatic Acid when the PH goes over 7.8...

The experts here can help you get everything dialed in and let you take control of your pool!

Jo,

I just looked at your signature...

If you have a TF-100, why would you have added 3 lbs of Clorox shock and 6oz of Algae guard?????

Is your signature correct, or is that a computer error???

Probably the best thing for your pool in a long time.

I added 3 lbs of Clorox shock.

6oz of Algae guard and

What chemicals are in algae guard? Do you know what they do?

3 cups of muriatic acid.

What was your pH and TA that said that was needed?

Yet to do the water test today.

We usually do water testing before adding chemicals, not after.

Cleaned the DE filter and added 6 lbs of D.E.

What told you the filter needed cleaning? What was your filter pressure before and after cleaning?

I suggest you read ...

Congratulations! Look forward to seeing your test results for further discussion.

This wasn't exactly the nicest new member greeting I've seen since joining a few weeks ago. Please don't forget that we new members don't know any of this stuff. Of course we don't know what chemicals to use or why we were told to put it in. We also were foolish enough to believe test strips did what they say they do. By the time we sign up here, we don't need to be shamed into following the advice, just educated.
That being said, I sincerely thank you all for the time you put in to help us learn to help ourselves.

It's all good! It's just that my job is in tech support and we too always have to be reminded that the knowledge we take for granted isn't possessed by everyone else yet. End of hijack! :)
