Help! cloudy pool

Yes - pH will rise as you're not using pucks. Most people find it gets more stable when TA reaches down in the 50-70 range. Just wait for it to hit 8.0, then put in MA to get it down to 7.6, repeat whenever it gets to 8.0.

Every time you lower pH, TA will lower a little bit too. As long as your pH is in the 7s you shouldn't really have to worry about TA. Every pool is different, but as Dustin mentioned above, your pool's TA will probably settle somewhere between 50 and 70. You do not want your TA much below 50 as you run the risk of your pH crashing, but there is not much risk of that happening if you do as Dustin described and just wait for pH to rise to 8, then lower it to 7.6. As your TA drops you will not have to lower pH as often.

Thanks for explaining that to me. Yall are great!

I'm still learning...and everyone has been so helpful. Thanks to all

What I love about the TFP techniques is that it is SOOOO easy. LC. Muriatic acid to lower pH. Borax or baking soda to raise it. Super easy. No going to the pool store and being told to try this that and the other thing for 100s of dollars. Test. Add. Test again. So much easier.

I found this website last year and join but I really still didn't know what I was doing. But I've done a lot more research on here this year. I've had my pool for 14 years. Hardly ever bought anything from pool store. Just took care of my pool the same way my dad did when I was a kid. Pucks and shock and baking soda.after I found y'all I've only used liquid chlorine and muriatic acid. I was only testing with test strips. But this year I got serious and ordered the taylor test kit and started really listening to y'all. I appreciate everyone's help!
