I need to buy some stabiliser and it makes sense to buy in bulk because you get more for your money. But how long can it be kept for? Does it lose its strength? Also for dry acid?

If I'm reading things right, your pool is only 9200 liters or 2439 gallons. As such, the amount of CYA you'll need is really small. Like half a kilo.
CYA doesn't break down all that fast. You won't be adding all that much to replace losses. There's no point stockpiling a ten year supply just because it was a good deal.
Your pool is small enough that you can bring CYA up using trichlor pucks and replace any splashout/backwash losses with another puck or two.

How do you use trichlor pucks? I'm so confused about this stuff 
I have been trying to learn, but right now I just want somebody to tell me exactly what to put in my pool and when.
I can't get a decent test kit in the UK so i'm basically muddling along with the stuff in my signature, half of which i'm still waiting for...

The only thing I have been putting in my pool water to now is liquid chlorine. The other stuff is what I think I need to order. I get my chlorine levels up, then the next day there's no chlorine, so from what I have read I need to add stabiliser...?
Right. Sunlight gets the chlorine within hours without any CYA.
Assuming I'm right and your pool is only 9200 liters, 3 3" trichlor pucks (US standard, not sure how big they are in UK) will add 41 CYA to your water. You put them in a floater. When they're all dissolved, you switch to bleach.
PoolMath can switch from US units to metric in the upper right. Down below the table is Effects Of Adding Chemicals, which will tell you how much each chemical will add. Note: the pH p[art will only be accurate within a small window, just ignore it down there. Use the pH adjuster up above if you need to fix pH.

I know test strips are not as accurate as a proper kit, but I was encouraged when I tested earlier and got these results:
pH 7.2
TA 80
FC 0
CYA 0
Hopefully these are accurate enough for me to go on for now...? After all if worst comes to worst I can always drain and refill as it's not a huge pool. It went cloudy a week or so ago and by adding bleach, running the filter and lots of brushing and skimming it is now completely clear. Just need to sort the CYA so the chlorine can hang around and do it's job.

3 pucks in a floater will fix you up. You won't have any CYA unless you've added it via dichlor, trichlor, or straight stabilizer. It doesn't occur in nature and it won;t be in tap water.
