We've bought a home with an I ground pool. It's been serviced by a local company and they advised that we just needed a shock treatment and a pool vacuum to get the pool water clear. We've done all of these things but the water is still murky? Can anyone make any suggestions as to how we get the water to be more clear and clean looking?

This is exactly why we at TFP recommend owner water testing. Pool servies are "In & Out" without much concern for anything but profit. If you obtain a TF-100 (link below) or Taylor K-2006C test kit and post a full set of numbers, I'm sure we can help set you straight. See Test Kits Compared. Cloudy water almost always indicates algae, and to remove algae we employ the SLAM Process process - with one of those test kits.

Please see our ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry for more info, post a full set of your own test results, and we'll gladly coach you through a SLAM. Make sure to update your signature as well. Have a good day.

Oh, and welcome to TFP!
