Question on testing CYA

That is why you are to use the sock method to add CYA. The granules on the bottom of the pool will stain it.

You can buy liquid stabilizer and it would be easier for you to use. It should be available at pool stores or through Amazon.

I have used liquid stabilizer to raise my CYA in the past. However, ensure you shake the container extremely well before you begin. The ingredients will settle at the bottom of the container and you'll want to make sure it is mixed up before pouring it in. It is best to pour it into the pool in front of your returns. Then brush the pool thoroughly to distribute it.

A CYA level of 40 is fine.

It will go down if you remove water from the pool and add water without CYA to the pool.
It will go up if you add any products with CYA in it to the pool.

Test monthly or if you remove a significant amount of water from the pool.
