Continued from the "introduce yourself thread". The pool was laid out on Friday and we will have the dig on Wednesday (of course moved from Tuesday). We saved a little more gravel. I calculated the volume to be about 14,500 gallons, so yes it's intentionally a small pool. PB thought 15k to 16k is more accurate but we will see.

I might post a redacted version of the plan drawings but I am hemming and hawing if that is a good idea on a public forum. So I apologize if I don't.

One of my other engineering coworkers suggest that I time lapse the dig. I bought a tripod mount for my phone. If it works, I will post a YouTube like later.

For now I am attaching the spray paint marks. You can see a little of the remainders from Arizona 811/Blue Stake okays in the picture.

More to come later in the week.

Please DO post the drawing of the pic. That is neat for us to see. You should also share a list of your equipment so we can look over it and tweak it if needed.

I like the shape and location of your pool. Will you have the decking all the way to the house or a walkway?

 Whatcha got going on up der on the patio roof? Anti-alien device? Google earth jammer?
HD TV antenna would be my guess.

That location away from the house is great. Please do post up your plans and equipment list - just remove your name, address, etc, and that of your PB also.

That is a TV antenna. I will probably mount it permanently there because even though I am south of Tucson I can actually receive all Phoenix channels except PBS on it, and literally it is an optical fluke because of knife edge refraction over a mountain range. I had it on the wall they are knocking down but it only received Tucson there. :). The other one is tracking airplanes ADS-B. I was an RF Engineer for years. Amateur radio operator for even more years.

I already have a redacted copy on my computer at work but I am on PTO for a couple of days. As long as you don't criticize the in floor... I would probably not have a problem with it. If I didn't put one in I literally would be the only pool without one in the subdivision. They seem to be standard issue here.

I like that its not smack dab up against the house. That gives a nicer appearance to the whole yard, IMO. More grand, no matter how big or small the pool is.

Yeah, like I said before I paid extra for what I would call a normal sized lot. I am intentionally saving half the lot for some open space.

The pool is a little small for all six of us, but honestly we won't all use it at the same time, and my kids are 14, 15, 17 and 18 so over the next couple of years we will have at least two of them go off on their own.

I will have a bit of landscaping to do but I am guessing that will be late fall or early spring as I will do it myself.

Unfair! I am up near Oro Valley and can't even get Tucson FOX due to Pusch Ridge blocking and them not having a repeater by A-mountain.

Certainly do not get anything from PHX. Although I had to get a pretty big antenna that is fairly directional to pull in channel 4 ... wonder if I swung it around I could pick up PHX .... hmmm

Yeah ... I need to do some recon on the south side of town ...
It's a home depot RCA antenna hooked up to a Winegard LNA-100. (which is under the porch because it's an indoor LNA.) Total of maybe 50 bucks. Nothing special.

It is a fluke that those channels are coming in at all. According to TV Fool's predictions I would even lose signal if the antenna were higher up. Complete and total dumb luck. But the major networks carry the same stuff at the same time anyway so I gain a different Fox and better Ion networks only really. If they were any weaker I would not have them like PBS. I assume they will fade out in the monsoons.

I am somewhat lucky that I am at 3300' looking over most of Tucson and Marana and have a straight shot up to central Phoenix in the valley there. My ADS-B setup can see planes past Prescott. Total dumb luck like I said. Mountains do odd things to radio signals.

I was somewhat unlucky that I did get over 8" of snow one day in January. The cool thing is that my neighbors looked at me like I had three heads when I shoveled my driveway with real snow shovels...

Okay. I will compile more of today's fun later tonight as I have stuff scheduled for this evening. Dig went well overall. They didn't take out the A/C units, but the masons have a couple of minor repairs to make... Very tight squeeze for the Bobcat.. Inches...

The time lapse videos actually kinda worked. At 16x they look a lot like the Benny Hill show... I will link to a site somewhere with the best of it.

For now here are a couple pictures... IMG_20190626_151724360.jpgIMG_20190626_155701331_HDR.jpg

So, I was taking pictures on a second old phone when doing the time lapse.. So here are a couple more from the other device... 20190626_131456_HDR.jpg20190626_125437_HDR.jpg

I will need to check depth this weekend. I suspect it is fine though from watching them the whole time.

The original dead body paint outline, if anything, was slightly larger than the plans, and they went a foot out from that in the dig. By slightly larger, the perimeter is 79 feet according to plan and I measured 80 feet. So inches on the other dimensions.

The Bobcat whacked the remaining block fence twice but I have been assured that the masons who will otherwise put the gate up where the wall was intentionally torn down will also replace the damaged blocks. We were pretty lucky on the dimensions. We do have a "large lot" for the subdivision and area but that was at the cost of the narrower sides than average for the neighborhood. Also a smaller front yard than average.

I’ll take the bigger backyard over the front yard all day!
Fred, just my 2 cents. Since they pulled out your side gate, consider going with as big a gate as you can for a replacement. I can’t tell you how bad I wished my side gate was bigger then the 40” it is now. It makes access to your backyard with stuff, (like storing trailers, atv’s, jet ski’s, etc) so much easier.
