This was a great thread last year.

What large batch cocktails do you like to serve at pool parties?

I have never done this before but you can mix your favorite juices like cranberry juice with a little grapefruit and cran-pineapple and add vodka. We like to drink these as they are very refreshing and add much needed vitamins etc when you are out in the sun.

I am almost strictly a beer guy but I dig this in large batches instead of a margarita mix.

Passion fruit caipirinha

Ingredients
  • 3 limes
  • 4 tablespoons golden caster sugar
  • 75 ml cachaça
  • 1 ripe passion fruit
  • crushed ice
Method
  1. Cut the limes into wedges.
  2. Place all but two of the lime wedges and the sugar in a cocktail shaker and muddle for a couple of minutes, or until the sugar has almost dissolved.
  3. Add the cachaça, then halve and spoon in most of the passion fruit pulp.
  4. Fill the shaker with crushed ice and shake it vigorously for 1 minute.
  5. Pour the cocktail into two glasses and top up with more ice, if need be.
  6. Garnish with lime wedges and the rest of the passion fruit pulp.

Cachaca is my go to summer drink. Instead of sugar or bar sugar I make simple syrup to muddle with the limes.

I use pineapple or watermelon at times. I’ll have to try the passion fruit. Most of the time it’s just with the limes.

I did my Mojitos last night as pitchers cause I was getting sick of doing them individual cause they take a while to make. I just multiplied my recipe by 6. Wasn’t able to shake them. I did uses separate ice than what was in the pitcher that I crushed and 2 pieces of mint and a piece of lime then poured them over that. Tasted exactly the same. They were green tea Mojitos and blackberry black tea flavored Mojitos.

I’m really liking the tea vs club soda for them. Nice summer change.
