New IG build League City, TX

Poolbella,
Well, I hope you get your decking situation resolved soon. You mentioned your heater is noisy. I never thought of a heater being noisy. What kind of noise does it make? What brand is the heater? Just curious.

I think it’s Pentair. It sounds like a jet engine when it fires up. For real. I thought it was broken! PB said that’s how they sound. It’s more like a noisy AC once it gets going.

This a bit concerning for me. Our pool equipment is very close to the pool. Our pool pump is only loud on 100%. Anything less and it’s quiet. The pump for our waterfalls is loud. I love the waterfalls but the pump noise is slightly annoying. Can you hear it while the spa is running? A noisy AC does not sound pleasant.

We didn’t run the jets. I couldn’t remember how to do it! Got to get my screenlogic adapter installed so I can do it on my phone. But I doubt it would be louder than the spa jets.

Ah, got it. I was assuming the jets were on. If you could hear it over the jets, I think that would be loud. We are scheduled to get our gas meter Thursday. They said someone needs to be home when they install it. We’re you home? Did you need to do anything?

It is a good feeling indeed!!! Broke ground on 10/27/18 and today 2/21/19 it is officially 100% complete. I’m actually going to miss my construction manager. He was great to work with. He did say I can call if I need anything.

Texas Splash,

Thank you sir!!!!

Poolbella,

No worries! My wife was home and everything got take care of. I was worried nothing would happen today with the rain but it stopped early this morning down here. The PB and gas guy came out at the same time and everything was done by 1100.

Kimkats,

Thank you very much for all of your help throughout this process! I’m still learning for sure but at least I’ve got a good start. I plan to post some updates especially once summer rolls around. Not a bad idea on the dinner. Definitely plan on doing something to say “thanks for doing a great job”.

Kim got paid double for her advice on your pool. It looks great too!

That still might not have been enough! LOL

Best way to repay him is to pass on his info to the million people who are now going to ask you about the pool, because trust me, they’re going to ask!

I will definitely be posting his info to anyone that wants it. I plan on writing up a few online reviews as well. Thank you for your help as well!!!

Congrats on everything being done!

Thanks tldude! Maybe we could meet up sometime since we live in the same small place. I appreciate all of your help along the way.

The SWG just got turned on today. Any tips, tricks or ideas I need to be aware of? I know he dumped in 7-bags of salt and said to give it 48-hrs to for the reading to level out. He also left the chlorinator at 50%. He said he would send me some chart(I assume about salt and chlorine output but my wife couldn’t remember). I’ll check the chlorine level in the morning and see what 50% at 8hrs does. Too high back it down and too low turn it up? Sound about right?

Lets talk SWG and tips for using them:
-use liquid chlorine if you need to boost your FC level fast for any reason (poop, urine, dead animal, etc). You should always have some on hand to at least know where to get it fast. SWG are not meant of high FC boosts.
-Salt levels-if your SWG is happy then your level is right-the tests for salt levels are not the best so do use them BUT if your SWG is happy and working then call it good.
-SWG do not work in cold water. Some not below 65, some 60. Read what your says and think ahead for the burrr time and know you will use liquid chlorine during that time. Not a lot but you will need it.
-adding salt days=diamond day! Everyone in the pool to watch the pretty diamonds float down through the water. They will also help mix it up that way.

Now lets talk about my pay!!!! You can pay me by sticking around a while and sharing what you learned during your build and what you will learn as you take care of your pool! Pick a section of TFP and read the threads. There is a lot of good info being shared and you will learn what to do or not do just by reading. That way you will be ready if/when you need it for your pool!
