Construction finally started in Jacksonville FL!

So. According to our PB we are still "allegedly" lol.. scheduled for plaster for monday. ( Although he is doing his hardest to get them out their this weekend.. ya ok.) ... do I sound cynical? I think this pool build has made me a little cynical. :p ANYWAY.. the QUESTION I actually have is... our equipment isn't hooked up nor is our pool or led lights for the bubblers. PB says it's no biggie they don't have to be done for them to plaster... but shouldn't it be done by the time the water has filled the pool... asking for a friend.

Yes the pb is correct however you are correct in that the lights should be in place in the pool before it is filled up. Most times the pump and other things are hooked up because as soon as you fill the pool up you need to get the pump working to mix chemicals. Hopefully others will chime in[emoji482]

Did any one else notice the umbrella throw to the woods? LOL "I don't need YOU anymore! I have my screen now!"

Paige, we will all be waiting to see what happens and when for you! Here is hoping it IS tomorrow! :hug;

Ok my phone is being wonky. I am extremely concerned about the fact our pool is getting plastered tomorrow and our equipment isn’t set up and tested nor are the pool lights installed. When we bring the concern to the PB his response is we can just keep running the sump pump if his guy can’t get to it tomorrow after plaster. Which means it won’t get hooked up Wednesday either since it is a holiday. Sp fresh plaster will sit? Or does that mean the will fill it and run it with the sump pump ( the pump that pumps out the water currently?) Am I being crazy? I know y’all are sick of reading my complaints about the build but this just seems irresponsible.

I can't remember if I sent this to you yet so here ya go: Start-up Cards - National Plasterers Council You will want the back side.

The sump pump CAN take the place of the pool pump. What will happen is they will put the hose inside the pool so it can move the water. You can also walk around the pool with a straw broom or boat paddle to get the water moving so you can add chemicals.

It can be done and has been done before. Having the equipment pump on makes life easier but..........the sump pump is the next best thing.

I would put some kind of sock or such on the end of the hose if it has any metal on it. I would also find a way to put something on the bottom to keep the metal off your new plaster. A shirt or ????

I SO get where you are coming from and understand your frustration with your PB. He is NOT playing fair at all. We will help you overcome anything he does!

thanks Kim! Yes I’ve done my pool school and read and re read the start up procedure. I’m glad that this is ok. It just seemed really odd to me. Thank y’all again for the advice!

Hope everyone had a happy 4th! We are still waiting on plaster, which we asked to be scheduled on June 22 and has been pushed back everyday for a week. Hoping for tomorrow. Our one sweet guy who has done almost everything for our build was out yesterday hooking up our equipment. He is starting his one company next month and I think he will do well. He cares about the quality of his work and his customers. Super nice guy.

Make sure you have his contact info to use for future stuff :cheers:
