Remodel 1980s A&S Pool Northern Virginia

It has been a been a week since my pool finished filling. I have one area of staining. As water was filling up the deep end, water some how made it back through the system and came out of one skimmer. This skimmer is about 3/4 inch lower than the other skimmer. There was a lot of construction debris and a little left over organic debris in the skimmer. I was able to quickly turn my jandy values so that the water stopped, but the damage was done.

The PB sent a crew out that sanded the stain, but the diver had a hard time seeing the stain especially as he moved towards the deep end. It was a windy day, so it was hard to see, but very obvious when there isn't any wind to disturb the surface tension. I may have them come out and try again, or should I wait until the plaster finishes curing and try to remove it with a puck? I think right now it is a combo of water/organic staining as there is a slight brownish hue. Thoughts on how I should proceed?

I haven't really seen any plaster dust after the 2nd day, is this common? In fact, during the first two days, the dust was very, very minimal and certainly not enough to raise my filter pressure.

My acid demand is finally leveling off. Last weekend I was making large adjustments two or three times day and now I'm going 20 hours and my PH is still 7.5, TA is 100 (down from 120).

Of course the PB claims that my FC shouldn't exceed 3 and that my CYA needs to be 30 to 50. They haven't seen the chlorine/CYA chart.

So, the pool company is back out today to take care of a few punch items:

1. Missing all of my eyeballs and too much plaster around at two spa returns so replacement eyeballs couldn't be placed in the hole. The holes were chipped and sanded and they gave me new eyeballs for the spa and pool.
2. Put a plug in the hole that connects the spa and pool. This plug also went missing during the reno.
3. Stain can't be sanded anymore. I will get in this week and try placing a puck on it.

Other than the "water stain" I'm finally happy with the work.

Two days will be 3 weeks and I can finally use my robot again.

One week and two days I can add salt so I can use my SWG again. I might have homedepot deliver the salt (20 to 22 40# bags) because my highlander SUV in the shop getting repaired. Some idiot side-swiped me and I'm stuck driving a tiny Hyundai until mine is fixed.

Nice to hear they got the punch list done! I look forward to hearing what the puck does for the stain.

GURRRRRRRRRRRR on the side-swipe! Did they stop?? Is their insurance paying to the tiny car? Bet you can't wait to get your grown up car back LOL

Fortunately they stopped and their insurance is paying.

It's a pain because my car has special hybrid plates and I can get on the HOV lanes for a faster commute. This rental will increase my commute by 20 minutes each way, grrr! D.C. Traffic sucks.

Is your HOV lanes combined with some sort of toll road authority? We have EZ Tag here in Houston. They are great about giving you a temporary pass for exactly your need. All I have done is call them, given them the rental plates, and that's it. They tell me how long it's good for, and to call them when I return the rental. It's worth a try....

Unfortunately all lanes of the interstate are hov. No exceptions and there are no tolls. Eventually the hov lanes will be converted to hot lanes.

I am left to use secondary roads to get to work until my car is returned. Sigh.

Oh man! I'm so sorry for you. I guess that type of system will eventually hit all of us in the big urban areas. Hang in there!
