New Northeastern Pa Build

Kim. It's just sooooooo boring. I'm going to start drinking as I brush around the pool.

All my chemicals r in! I added another 8 of acid cause it climbed again to 7.5. I have been non stop since I started this morning and I already had 3 hrs in before that in the yard. I'm spent!

i just let my kid sink his feet so I don't scar him for life. Lol

so when do I check levels again and which do I check. I know not cya.

I feel your pain on the brushing...I hate doing it especially when I don't see much happening. Everyone says it takes time and there is definitely less plaster dust.

i deff see plaster dust kicking up. I had to vacuum testerdY and I prob should again today. I try to push it to drains but it doesn't all get in.

No no one feels bad for us though. I know they don't. Lol

kidding people! :)

Look at your treads for today and yesterday. I am SO glad you have it all written out! If they say what I think they do you should be okay not testing again until right before bed or even waiting until the morning depends on your trends.

LOL on not scaring the kid!

Thank you TFP! I couldn't have done it without you all!

touched up a bit diff:

So the other night I hooked up the Screen logic interface. Decided to mount it in the house and run the 4 wire to outside vs a category cable so I can trouble shoot IP issues from inside.
Threw it in one of my structured wiring panels.

I also decided to mount all electronics in the house vs the pool house for winter conditions up here. This way all I have do is take the TV in. It will be a lot more wiring and more complicated automation, but it will be easier for cleanup each winter. Plus it will keep everything in one place. I can also steal cable from one of my cable boxes in that rack vs renting another. Since it would be rare that the pool tv and one of the basement boxes would be being used at the same time.

front view of that rack. I placed blank panels for the lower sections and will add shelves when I need them. I use blanks for cable boxes since they change so often. I don't get custom plates for them cause they change so often. I also hide the automation switches and network gear behind blank plates to keep things cleaner. Only equipment that doesn't change often or looks decent gets custom mounted plates for use and show. The other empty rack if anyone is wondering is for my media room which got put on the back burner for the pool! grrrrrrr! I'm never going to finish it!

Jim the super blue DB looks great...you have done a most excellent job sir! Your equip panels are a work of envy for sure...

Even though I have been battling my FC with tons of bleach I'm waiting to raise my CH (which is my only low number) until I get the SWG turned on.

That water looks awesome! That makes it that much harder to tell the kids they cannot swim :( Soon guys, soon!

Your wiring is awesome! I just redid mine behind the main TV in the living room. Hubby wanted a new TV stand  had to get creative to hide all of the cables AND still make the easy to work on or change as needed BUT I got it done with only one walk away LOL

what did you take it to for now, CH? I am taking mine to 250. Breaking period is 200-300 for me.

Thanks for the compliment. I love wire porn. lol Wiring panels and racks is my zen time. lol

behind tv stands and stuff is tough. somewhere will always be a mess. you pick ur poison. i just redid my cabinet in the living room cause i upgraded everything. I battled for 1 week with getting behind the cabinet and in the cabinet to a point where I can swap in and out and not have to redo anything. I think I succeeded. lol I pulled out my 4K player and got it right back in without rewire work. It's hard in tight spaces. Really hard. I made most of my own wiring to length. Actually everything but HDMI. I make all speaker wire, audio hookups, category wire, and communication wire on my own. I have a company we deal with that will make my power cords to custom lengths.

Lol. We just had a snake issue. Our neighbor was coming over and a 6 foot racer popped out of a planter to say hi. Lol. So we called the neighbors kid who is have g a drinking party with his buddies cause his parents r away to get it for her. Lol. It was amusing. The net had a hole in it so it kept coming out as they carried it to the woods. Thier dog is trying to bite it when it's falling out. Funny to watch 10 drunk college guys do this. Guess I should have helped but it was too amusIng. Plus I hate snakes! Lol. But there is my son. Right in the action. No fear. I have no idea how I'm going to do it as he gets older. Lol

Mine swings between 175-200, I will push up to 280 next month. Are you in IT or is it just a hobby (wiring)? I will send a PM with a couple of questions soon if thats ok?? I like a clean look on my equipment as well and have done ok around the house so far.

its not my profession but one of my closest friends owns a large home theatre company. I do all of his dedicated theatre room design along with all automation design and programming. I do installs at times when he needs help but I only really like to be involved with full home automation or especially dedicAted room design. I'm his geek pretty much. Lol

pm me I'm here! Rack layout is my new thing cause of us moving towards more fully isolated dedicTed rooms. I'm really trying to make sure all new designs have no equipment in the room cause the heat it gives off in a sound proof room is brutal and most people won't spring for dedicAted Hvac for 1 room.

I love it though. I would do it for free no problem. I love it.

morning!

test time:

Targets from Diamond Brite for today same as previous day. I will review

Target:
Ph: 7.4-7.6
TA: 80-120
CH: 200-400
FC: 1-3
CYA: 30-100

Actual: 8:33AM
Ph: 7.8 I'm adding acid right now while brushing
TA: 90
CH: 250
CYA: NT
FC: 0

Temp of water 74 degrees

What do you guys want me to do today with numbers?

Jim

I added acid to get pH down to 7.4 and I added CL to get FC up to 3. I wasn't going to touch CH. I was going to add baking soda if ok with everyone?

I'll test again in a few. Have to clean fireplace out first.

I squeezed socks. 80% dissolved already. I brushed.

How is that Suz! :)

jim

I retested pH and FC

Results:

pH 7.5 added 8oz acid to get it to 7.4
FC 3.5 CC 0 TC therefore 3.5 added nothing.

How I do? should I address TA. I feel I should cause it is below 100 and will keep dropping with acid demand today/

Opinions?

Thanks!

jim

Keep TA at 80 to keep them happy for now. The higher the TA the faster your pH will rise. It'll probably do better at 60-70 in the future. FC should never be 0 or you're going to get algae and bacteria growth. FC must stay above minimum for your CYA at all times, [FC/CYA][/FC/CYA]. You definitely don't want to have to SLAM Process a brand new pool. You might need to add it 2 or 3 times ler day until the CYA is dissolved and starts protecting it from the sun.

the free chlorine thing. That's the problem. They don't want it above 3 but we r shooting for a cya of 30 which means I should be taking it up to 4-6 bit I can't yet since they said no higher than 3.

Am am I correct in my thinking so I'm kinda at a stuck point right now. Tomorrow I'm calling diamond brite. Thier plan for me ends today. I want to ask them when I can take numbers to where u guys want me to or do I have to hold at thier numbers for a certain amount of days.

Jim

Ok, I understand. The pool industry has been hung up on FC of 1-3 for decades, even after 40 years of science proving the chlorine/CYA relationship. Keeping it at 3 is a lot better than 0.

Your pool is beautiful! I love the tile choice with the brick, the design, the Mickey heads (we are DVC members and have gone several times :)), the Super Blue - everything! Congratulations! Based on that last picture, maybe Super Blue is the way we will go too - great water color!
