All over it Kim...thanks and I just checked my water using test kit. PB will be over in a bit to add chemicals.

Just finished my first pool brush...why o why did no one say this was "WORK" :eek: Water went from decent looking to a big cloud...oh no...all will be well since TFP has my back on this!
 
Here are my first res results from actual pool water...

FC 1.0
pH 8.4 to 8.whatever...had to guesstimate since it was kinda off the charts
TA 120
CH 150
Temp 76

This was via the Pool Math App and the help from Suz on this round before any chems...Since PB just dumped a bunch of chems about an hour ago I will test again in a couple of hours and then twice more on Sunday.
 
Lower that pH to 7.6. Use muriatic acid. Buy 4 or 6 gallons. I get mine at Lowe's. It is is on the overstock aisle in the back. Make sure it 31.45%. It might take a couple of tries since it is reading outside the range of the test.

Were you able to write down what chems your PB dumped in the pool? Keep those notes.

#1 Rule: Don't add any chems until you've tested for the chemical levels. Add whatever PoolMath tells you to and let someone here double check for a few days. It's definitely not a by guess and by gosh method.

Is your PB ok with you adding what's needed between his visits? If so, make sure you show him your numbers on the PoolMath app, so he doesn't double up what you added. (he will be so impressed!!!)

Hahahaha! Yeahhhhhh, you're going to have muscles of iron before this is all done. It is a little discouraging to see the cloudy water, especially after we keep promising crystal clear TFP water, right?!! But you will treasure your gorgeous water even more when it balances out and clears up! Beautiful color and sparkly clear.

So your PB did start up the pumps, filter, etc - right?!! I'm sure he did, but just want to make sure.

Suz I will definitely get his list and post here, following rule #1, I will inform PB when I add anything for sure and yep he started everything. One scupper is not flowing water but PB will have a crew there on Monday he says but as long as it gets done I'm ok with it. All else seems to be working fine and my girls love love love the purple lights...
 
Ok I have completed my second round of pool brushing after my nap and completed my second round of water testing. Here are the new numbers...

FC: bring the FC up to 3 and whenever it slips below. Without CYA, you're really ok at 2.2, but that will fall with a bright and hot sunny day. So 3 gives you a little safety zone.

pH: want to keep it between 7.2 and 7.9 - not below or over. Knowing what the PB put in, helps us here. Keep an eye on pH, because the new plaster can push it up quickly, and so will running your water features. For right now, going up some on it's own will be good.

TA: it looks ok for now since you're still a 'bleach' only pool. We'll watch it and work more on it later

CH: again, it looks ok for now until we know what your PB added. You don't want it to go any lower. You'll need it higher when the salt is added and cell turned on. Keep an eye on it. Your tap was 150, so maybe he added something.



Your job now:
** post the chems your PB added last evening
** text your results to your PB, see if he agrees with adding some bleach now. If you don't hear back from him, I would use Pool Math and add.
** buy NOW if not already bought:
-------------bleach
-------------MA- muriatic acid
-------------calcium hardness increaser
-------------CYA (aka stabilizer)
** print these two charts and keep handy

:laughblue: Temp: a little chilly, but good!! The sun will move it up. Nothing to add here!
 
Did the PB add some CYA? If not get 30ppm in there pronto or be prepared to test FC and add bleach every 2-3 hours in the sun. In a sock or knee high and squeeze it a lot to dissolve it quickly. Should be able to get it dissolved in an hour or so. I also buy that at Lowe's.

Your PB could have possibly added the liquid CYA (stabilizer/conditioner). If he did, you need to test for it before adding. We can walk you through the CYA test if you want. Doing the test is easy, but reading it is sometimes confusing in the beginning.

If the PB did not add CYA (bottle may say stabilizer or conditioner), then you need to follow pooldv's instructions.
 
One more question.

Is your PB having you run your pumps 24 hours a day for now? If so, you won't want the water features running for that much time. The aeration will push up the pH too high.

You do want to run the water features about 15 minutes or so each day to allow the 'good chemicals' to run through the pipes and water feature pump to keep them clean and 'healthy'.

Have you tested your FC again? I just checked my weather radar app, and it says it's clear and sunny with 92 degrees outside up in Northlake, TX. (you can't hide from me!)

Your 'baby' might be getting a little hungry for some bleach! You can test the other stuff this evening, but bleach is digested quickly in pool babies.
