Vegas OB! Just got plans back and need some feedback (pics included :) )

Money is not taboo on here. It is a learning place for all things BUT saying that I will tell you that the $$ really depends on the area. What I can get in FL is not even close to the same thing Will can get in TX or someone in CA.

The best thing to do is get quotes from at least 3 (try for 5) people and share them here. We will help you look it over and make sure it has everything you need/want.

Kim, I need to get my first pool up right now, I have a 24' AG being given to me. IG is in my master plan but not for a while.

I could probably do most of the build myself save for the shotcrete (with some help of course)..... which would save a TON.... but I'm nervous.

Love all the colors!!

Will, I feel ya on the difference in the temps. 81 would feel great if it was 90 degrees outside but over 100 and 81 degree water? That's a big difference. When we were in thr Caribbean 2 months ago, the ocean was in the mid 70s and the temps were 85 and very breezy and it was one of those just hurry up and dunk yourself and don't stand up out of the water until you are ready to grab your towel! Brrrr
I'm glad someone understands, cause when I tell people my pool is 85 degrees and I think it's cold they just give me the stupid look hahahah. But I'm a baby and I don't care what anyone says, I need 90 degree water lol
Will...this turned out awesome! Great job.
Thanks Beach, and thanks for your help along the way :)
Big Will your pool project came out awesome! What did you do for plants, trees and ground cover? BTW I know where I'm headed next time we are in Vegas :) we have family in the Green Valley Ranch area....
Thanks for the compliment, we are very blessed to be able to have a pool just like everyone else here. My house has a open invatation, you just need to bring the food and I'll supply the water to swim in lol.
we haven't decided on plants yet and because it's 110+ everyday we will wait till late September or October to do landscaping so we will take our time and look and do research. I really like tropical look and colors so that will be the direction I'll start. I'm open for ideas for plants that can make it in the desert and won't attract bees
Will,

this is probably a taboo question but if you don't mind, just how much did that transformation cost ya? I'm wondering how many lifetimes I'll need to save my pennies for
Jim, I'm completely ok with you asking cause I had the same question for most people when I went on my journey. My project is 44k so far and that's with everything you see and top of the line equipment, automation, etc. I still have a few things to do like landscaping and my fireplace and outdoor kitchen. I will tell you this; you can easily build one for 30k if you don't want the bells and whistles and go conservative on your decking but when you see how much you save then you start seeing something here and there it adds up to be a extra 10k before you know it lol.
Feel free to ask me any questions you may have, so many others have helped me so I'm happy to help others

Kim is 100% correct, I see prices from other areas and it makes my head hurt. But do get multiple bids as it gives you a great starting ground.

Good idea to wait on plants as I plan to do the same for the most part. I want to get a feel for the pool in my yard when done and see how the sun traces over it before I decide. Thanks for the open invitation and I feel the same way...we know no strangers! Her is a pick of a plant called "little john" my friend has a couple in his yard in Phoenix and I really like the color plus heat tolerant...IMG_2256.jpg

So we went swimming as a family for the first time last night and everyone had a blast. The air temp was 105-100 and pool was 85 degrees and to me it was so cold. It took me about 30 minutes to get in and its funny cause as a kid I would have just jumped right in but not as an adult lol. I'm still looking for my sweet spot but when I find it I will let you know.
i can also say with certainty that 4ft is a great depth for a shallow end and 7 ft is good for a deep end, if we had a longer pool say around 40 feet plus I could easily see going to 8ft deep. Also benches around the perimeter of the pool work great and having extra lights in the pool turned out well.
one day I'll have to make a post about everything that turned out right or better than my expectations, for now I'm really thankful for all you at TFP that made this possible cause most of the add ones and benches and little stuff was because of caring members like you and I'm so glad I listened!!
in a minute I'll post a funny picture of my youngest :)

Will, oh Will................it had been longer than a min...............WILL! WAKE UP!!!!!!!!! I wanna see the funny picture!!

I am SO glad y'all were able to have a family night in the pool. THAT is what it is all about! Many smiles and much laughter=awesome memories!

I like your idea of "what is right". I also am enjoying you sticking around to help others. It is nice to have the words from someone that just went through it.

Sorry for the delay, I fell asleep. I forgot how tired and hungry you feel after you swim lol.
So now for a quick story- so everyone is swimming and my little One is not listening so my wife makes him get out of the pool. He goes in the house and come back 30 minutes later and says that he doesn't need the pool he can have his own fun. So we get out the pool we go looking for him and we can't find at first in any of the bedrooms, then I noticed a strobe light coming from the game room and this is how we find him.

He took a huge box and dragged it upstairs and made a fort and put up his strobe light and went to sleep Hahahaha

LOL now that is too cute! Did you leave him there to sleep for the night? He showed YOU! hehe

Now you know to make him take his "time outs" sitting out by the pool so he can't make his own fun :slidehalo: Got to love kids!

 little one........I like your style!

So today I'm having my outdoor and indoor surround system hooked up as well as having my full motion outdoor tv mount installed and a extra plug. Also doing some more home audio around the house .
The guy doing it is excellent and is from the San Diego area and travels for jobs.
I must say technology has come a long way and being able to play a different song indoor and outdoor from your phone is pretty cool. And as always some pics so you know it's real. If you need work done this is another sub I would highly recommend
Pool first thing this morning. ( went on a 20 mile ride and jumped right in and it felt good in the Vegas sun )

Outdoor plug and mount

Nice will! What kinda tv did u get for outside? I always hated installing the full motion brackets. They weight more than panels anymore. Looks really good. What is the audio plan for multiple zones you mentioned? What r u using for control from the phone?

Well.... while you men talk audio technology, I'm just gonna sit here and dream away looking at your beautiful pool under the desert sun with the mountains just over the wall!!!! OMG!!! How do you stand it?!!!!!

Thanks for the picture! I've been dying to see another one in the sun. That'll hold me - til the next page!
