Just found this thread and am bummed out my fiance threw away our old 22 x 52 ultraframe liner when the dog chewed thru a part of it... Wondering if it would at all be possible to attach one of these overlap liners to the frame without the original liner in place... Maybe one of you that has done this would know whether this could work?

The overlap liners are not meant to hold the outward pressure of the water without wall support from the intex liner. That is why on a usual above ground pool they have walls to support the liner.

My pool is that size too but there is no pool liners 22 feet what size did u use? Did it work?

This is a great forum - just ordered my liner for my 22 x 52 Ultra frame intex pool - as per someone else earlier mentioned they do not make a 22 x 52 overlap liner so i went with a 21 expandable overlap liner, so we will see how it goes - I sent him/her a message to see how it worked but haven't hear back. Some great ideas on here and awesome pictures as well
Question to those who have done the conversion.
With my pool in the original configuration, I would leave it up year-round. At the beginning of summer, I'd pull the plug in the drain and then refill. This season is the second year I have had the insert liner. I used a small submersible pump to drain the pool. I cleaned it. When I went to refill the pool, the liner began to shift and reseat itself. It stretched out the hole around the skimmer. Additionally, water tried to pull the overlap into the pool. I am left to assume that draining and refilling the pool was a mistake.
What do those of you that have done the conversion do each summer to prep your pool? Do you keep the prior year's water? Any tips would be appreciated.

I'd be scared of the holes that are cut for the filter not lining up, or getting pulled way out of shape. I keep my pool full through the winter, but we get a VERY mild winter here.
There is no need to drain completely & refill each year unless you have extremely high CYA. I simply lower my water below the thru-wall skimmer I installed and cover for the winter.
When I open the pool I just top off the water, check my levels and adjust if/as needed.
Where is "Lubbock"? Do you get below freezing weather in the winter?
Lubbock is in West Texas. We have mild winters with a few freezes.
Clearly, it is unwise to drain the pool completely in this modified configuration. I have never reused the water with my Intex pools in the past. I usually drain, clean, and refill. We have heavy winds and are subject dust storms. We tend to get a lot of dirt and debris in the pool. I have tried a few covers over the years, but those failed under the winds to one degree or another. The last two years, I haven't bothered to get a cover for that reason.
So, I offer this as a lesson to those doing the conversion. Draining can certainly stretch the holes for pump lines. My liner did stretch as the water refilled.
I had to rotate the liner one section and patch the holes I cut last year. I put a patch on the outside of the liner and another on the inside. I glued them to the liner and to each other. Additionally, I duct taped a large styrene plastic disk to the outside of the liner. I did this so that as the water filled the liner, water pressure would push against the patch and styrene and press against the Intex liner. It is my hope that this will provide an additional measure of resistance to the water pushing through liner like a blister as has happened to some folks that have removed their drains and covered the hole with only duct tape.
As of 8pm, it seems to have worked. I have cut new holes for the pump lines and continued to fill. I am optimistic that this pool will make it through at least another summer.

Well we finally got ours done last night with the conversion- I do have to say it was pretty easy. We were also able to use the fire hydrant in the front of our yard to fill it, so water went in quick. We had a doughboy pool 15 years ago and got rid of when the kids got older and didn't use it any longer, with that we had a sand filter and loved it so we are thinking we will probably change the pump and filter out to what we know.... The tree will get cut down soon and deck will get built hopefully in the next week or two. I did get a solar cover and of course they didn't have a 22' one so i went with a 24' and will cut it down but it was to windy last night to try that so just put it on top for the time being. I do have to say a lot of the wrinkles came out when we filled it up with water that was good because I was going crazy.

A lot of the legs had rusted on the bottoms I noticed this year so it was pushing it to last the rest of the year. One collapsed and it was all over from there. It was for sure worth doing this project and to see others able to keep there pools up and enjoying. Not sure what I will do for next year but will be reading through this place to get some ideas. My baby may be gone but I am happy I got an extra 5 years out of her.

Obviously your next goal needs to be a way to turn a temporary AG pool into a long lasting IG pool. After that should be a how to heat your pool with 20 bucks of PVC and a butane lighter guide.

Stick with intex! Don't be tempted with Summer waves and cheap prices at the end of the season! That's what I did and summer waves are inferior to intex pools!
