Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

Re: Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

After cleaning mine, I leave the filter basket out to dry then I store the unit upside down on a floor mat so not to make flat spots in the squeegee bar brush

Re: Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

Mine managed to tip over on its back on the sitting shelf in my pool. It's done it before but it's always accomplished to get itself right side up. I'm thinking it got like that at the end of the cycle and just stayed there. That's the only time that's happened out of multiple runs. Also my water level was getting low, so it wasn't as far in the water as it normally is. A couple of inches can make a big diff in this situation as it uses the buoyancy to right itself. Other than that one time, it's never got stuck on drains or on the shelves before. I know one thing, this time of year with all the leaves falling with twigs and such, this thing has been a lifesaver.

+1 on the leaves, I'm loving mine more than ever. I left mine in all week on a daily run. The cord got a bit tangled but it is much easier to deal with the cord than it is to deal with a cold suction or pressure hose. And the robot does such a better job!

Re: Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

Newbie here, sorry for basic questions:
have been researching in ground floor cleaners but the cost doesn't seem worth it. Am I correct that a robot replaces a Polaris cleaner? Can it be used in a salt pool?

I see the robot has a cord...does it clean the pool attached to the cord/powers sup? Are all robots that way or are some completely cordless?

what is the caddy for? Storage?

Yes

Yes

Yes, plugged in to the power supply that is plugged into 110v.

I think they are all corded.

Storage and moving it around. I don't have a caddy and don't need one. I put mine in the pool hut and hang the cord on a hook.

This particular unit doesn't have the swivel does it? I don't understand why Maytronics puts it on some models but not others.

I was concerned about this but bought one anyway. I can tell you that is a non-issue for me.

Maytronics claims that this model avoids making complete rotations that would otherwise tangle the cord. If you watch it work for a while you'll see that it makes a left turn for (nearly) every right turn that precedes it. Tangling has not been an issue for me although I noticed that whenever my wife put it away it tangled. She kept the power plug connected to the power supply and then wound it from the power supply end. I disconnect the power end first and then start winding from the robot end and it stays untangled.

Because my robot works much, much better than my Pentair Legend 2 pressure cleaner ever did. And no booster pump and plumbing is required. Did I say much, much better? I meant WAY, WAY better. :)

PB recommended if I do a robot to still plumb for Polaris. Is that just silliness? He said it would be in case robot doesn't work, I don't like it, or figure owner doesn't like robot

Re: Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

Houston,

I had my PB install a dedicated vacuum/suction line. This way, if I ever needed it I'd have it. It could also be converted to a pressure cleaner line, if necessary.

That said, I have Robots in my personal pool as well as at two rent houses. I can't envision ever having a reason to use anything else.

I wouldn't spend the money on it. I would be surprised if you could find a single person who has used a pressure/suction cleaner and a robot who wouldn't prefer the robot.

Re: Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

I have a pressure side Polaris cleaner, after I bought my robot, it sits hidden on my patio, robot does a way better job. Robot is light years ahead of the pressure side cleaner. I'd like to figure out a way to make it a dedicated vacuum suction line, should not be too difficult.

I just bought the Discovery! It is scheduled to arrive on Wednesday and I can't wait. Now I'm off to sell my almost brand new Polaris 360. Thanks for all the tips on this thread!!!!

Re: Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

I got my robot yesterday and I'm in love. I had taken my Polaris out of the pool on Monday morning so there was a few days of dirt/leaves in the pool. My new robot took care of them all in one 2 hour cycle.

I had planned to store it in a small deck box, but it won't fit so I ordered the caddy from Sunplay.

Re: Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

I thought about the caddy, but it takes up more room than the robot. Robot stores nicely with cord rolled. To me less of a hassle than a caddy. At least for me.
