My PG2000 turns on and cycles through the color spectrum for about 10-15 minutes and then shuts off. The unit is getting hot and there's a slight smell of burning plastic. Any suggestions?

Sounds like the cooling fan is either not working or has too many spider webs stopping the blades. Yes, that does happen. The fan motor has virtually no torque to overcome the resistance of spider web strands.
