If you enter Zeosand in the search bar, you'll see tons of discussions. We do have many people who use alternative types of media, but for the most part, regular silica pool sand is the standard. Hang tight though, I'm sure many others will reply.
If you have a single speed pump just use regular pool filter sand.
The zeo is known to get blown back into the pool at high rpms.
I personally didn’t like it & replaced it with #20 silica pool filter sand.
After 2 seasons it looked like old clumpy dirty kitty litter.
It started out white & fluffy.
If you’re wanting to catch finer particles you can always just add a tiny bit of pool grade de to your sand to help as needed.
You, and your bank account, will be much happier if you stick with filter sand. It works and there is no practical benefit to using any alternative product.
