I feel like we've been on this journey with you, and I'm exhausted! I CANNOT imagine how you feel!!!!!!! Umm, you have been so patient with them it is unreal. I DON'T know how you have managed it. Talk about grace and forgiveness. They should be kissing your feet at this point. This PB is soooo lucky you are the pool owner for this build.
I don't think you have to worry about them walking. You have too much work done at this point. The plaster is a big expense, but they would have walked long before now if their financial situation was a real issue. This company at least appears to be sincere in completing the project. I believe they are concerned about their reputation, but for whatever reasons, can't seem to pull it all together.
I'm holding my breath for you! Until this pool is filled and you guys can swim, I won't be breathing!!!
Sending positive thoughts your way!
Suz.
Thanks Suz!! I do think they are trying to keep their reputation. I am not sure at this point if I would recommend them but they are honest and are trying to do everything right even though it seems to me at this point they are struggling so bad with subs that it is hard for them to get above water.
So what's on the schedule for this week?
I turned 40 on Saturday and everyone had a surprise party for me so I have been busy. I haven't really thought about the pool much.
Last week they came out and tore up a part of my deck. When the originally put in the drains for the deck the put up the retaining wall and didn't make an opening for the pipe for the drains. They came and found the pipe by removing about 3' of retaining wall on that side of the deck and some deck pavers. Then they left and haven't been back. For this process they also tore up my grass too that they just put down. I don't know when they plan on coming back to fix that.
They also put in my hose bib and the shut off for the hose bib. The hose bib is too high (I think it is like 3' above the deck and if I bought one of those hose reels to have next to it the short hose that comes with the reel wouldn't be able to reach the hose bib. So I asked them to lower it. The shut off for the hose bib is in the grass and was supposed to be in a box in the grass but they have it outside the ground. While they painted it to make it look nice it is right up against the retaining wall next to my stairs and I can see my landscaping guys hitting it with a weed eater every time they come cut my grass. I asked them to redo it in a irrigation box in the ground. Part of me wanted to not say anything and just do it myself when the entire job is done but I really don't want to have to dig around live water lines to do it and so I said something. He understood my concern and is supposed to fix it.
Yesterday the electrician came out and finished that up. I haven't see it because I got home really late last night. I need to go look at it today. The City came out and did a final electric inspection today. Not sure how that went yet.
The guy that is supposed to lower my hose bib and put the shut off in the ground is supposed to be there today. And I think the guy who is supposed to brown coat the exposed parts of the pool should be here tomorrow. I also think he is the one that is supposed to be fixing the parts of the fence that are leaning from where they drove some equipment into the fence.
Now the crazy part is the paver crew. Way before they started I was out back with my girlfriend and the sales manager and I saw a bunch of pavers on the pallet for my coping that were cracked. I asked if they would not use those because I didn't want the cracked pavers installed on my pool. Well it turns out the crew installed them anyway. So I went around the pool and marked six pavers that I wanted replaced. Turned out there was not enough left to fix them so my girlfriend ordered more. They were delivered to my house. Well when they were all done I saw they removed the tape so I thought they replaced them. Then later when I was looking at the sod I was walking around the pool and realized that on top of the two pavers that had the worst cracking they had put my skimmer lids on them. I moved the lids to find out that they had tried to just put mud or grout in the cracks. It looked like cracks with grout in it. I asked my girlfriend about it and he said that he should have replaced them and I said they didn't. I then went around the pool to find they didn't replace any of the coping pavers with cracks that I had marked. They tried to cover it up. Then the kicker is the landscape crew was also the guys who were so bad installing my wall that they hired someone else. Well they moved all the remaining materials in my yard (leftover pavers, wall, cap, etc...) to do the sod. Well I guess the guy lied to my girlfriend right after my job so he fired him. Well all the materials he picked up are gone. He lied to my girlfriend and said that none were left. Well all those pavers that my girlfriend ordered to replace for the cracked pieces are gone. So now he has to order more and they take like 2 weeks to come in. So I don't know if the paver crew will be back in to fix what they tore up until those come in or not. Who knows...
I was scheduled for plaster on Thursday but they moved it to Monday because we are supposed to get some big storms. Even if I get plaster on Monday there is a lot of little work to do and I am guessing that might take a couple weeks because of waiting for new coping stones to come in.
