Yet another Texas pool build!

I feel like we've been on this journey with you, and I'm exhausted! I CANNOT imagine how you feel!!!!!!! Umm, you have been so patient with them it is unreal. I DON'T know how you have managed it. Talk about grace and forgiveness. They should be kissing your feet at this point. This PB is soooo lucky you are the pool owner for this build.

I don't think you have to worry about them walking. You have too much work done at this point. The plaster is a big expense, but they would have walked long before now if their financial situation was a real issue. This company at least appears to be sincere in completing the project. I believe they are concerned about their reputation, but for whatever reasons, can't seem to pull it all together.

I'm holding my breath for you! Until this pool is filled and you guys can swim, I won't be breathing!!!

Sending positive thoughts your way!
Suz.

Thanks Suz!! I do think they are trying to keep their reputation. I am not sure at this point if I would recommend them but they are honest and are trying to do everything right even though it seems to me at this point they are struggling so bad with subs that it is hard for them to get above water.

So what's on the schedule for this week?

I turned 40 on Saturday and everyone had a surprise party for me so I have been busy. I haven't really thought about the pool much.

Last week they came out and tore up a part of my deck. When the originally put in the drains for the deck the put up the retaining wall and didn't make an opening for the pipe for the drains. They came and found the pipe by removing about 3' of retaining wall on that side of the deck and some deck pavers. Then they left and haven't been back. For this process they also tore up my grass too that they just put down. I don't know when they plan on coming back to fix that.

They also put in my hose bib and the shut off for the hose bib. The hose bib is too high (I think it is like 3' above the deck and if I bought one of those hose reels to have next to it the short hose that comes with the reel wouldn't be able to reach the hose bib. So I asked them to lower it. The shut off for the hose bib is in the grass and was supposed to be in a box in the grass but they have it outside the ground. While they painted it to make it look nice it is right up against the retaining wall next to my stairs and I can see my landscaping guys hitting it with a weed eater every time they come cut my grass. I asked them to redo it in a irrigation box in the ground. Part of me wanted to not say anything and just do it myself when the entire job is done but I really don't want to have to dig around live water lines to do it and so I said something. He understood my concern and is supposed to fix it.

Yesterday the electrician came out and finished that up. I haven't see it because I got home really late last night. I need to go look at it today. The City came out and did a final electric inspection today. Not sure how that went yet.

The guy that is supposed to lower my hose bib and put the shut off in the ground is supposed to be there today. And I think the guy who is supposed to brown coat the exposed parts of the pool should be here tomorrow. I also think he is the one that is supposed to be fixing the parts of the fence that are leaning from where they drove some equipment into the fence.

Now the crazy part is the paver crew. Way before they started I was out back with my girlfriend and the sales manager and I saw a bunch of pavers on the pallet for my coping that were cracked. I asked if they would not use those because I didn't want the cracked pavers installed on my pool. Well it turns out the crew installed them anyway. So I went around the pool and marked six pavers that I wanted replaced. Turned out there was not enough left to fix them so my girlfriend ordered more. They were delivered to my house. Well when they were all done I saw they removed the tape so I thought they replaced them. Then later when I was looking at the sod I was walking around the pool and realized that on top of the two pavers that had the worst cracking they had put my skimmer lids on them. I moved the lids to find out that they had tried to just put mud or grout in the cracks. It looked like cracks with grout in it. I asked my girlfriend about it and he said that he should have replaced them and I said they didn't. I then went around the pool to find they didn't replace any of the coping pavers with cracks that I had marked. They tried to cover it up. Then the kicker is the landscape crew was also the guys who were so bad installing my wall that they hired someone else. Well they moved all the remaining materials in my yard (leftover pavers, wall, cap, etc...) to do the sod. Well I guess the guy lied to my girlfriend right after my job so he fired him. Well all the materials he picked up are gone. He lied to my girlfriend and said that none were left. Well all those pavers that my girlfriend ordered to replace for the cracked pieces are gone. So now he has to order more and they take like 2 weeks to come in. So I don't know if the paver crew will be back in to fix what they tore up until those come in or not. Who knows...

I was scheduled for plaster on Thursday but they moved it to Monday because we are supposed to get some big storms. Even if I get plaster on Monday there is a lot of little work to do and I am guessing that might take a couple weeks because of waiting for new coping stones to come in.

I want to tell you a story.........a story of a pool build.............It is a nightmare beyond all nightmares.........it is full of lies and theft! It is the story of why a company owner should know who he hires to do a job BEFORE he turns them loose on a job. He should check out their work and keep a CLOSE eye on them if they are new to him!

I am betting they are losing SO much on your build due to who they hired and fired!

At least they keep trying :( I would LOVE to hear what they are saying behind closed doors. I bet there are a LOT of adult words said!

Happy Birthday! I hope it was a good one! A surprise party! NICE job family and friends!

HUGS and much hope the end is somewhere over the pavers!

So my GF called. I am pretty upset at this point. He is asking if I would be willing to take the abalone shells instead of the glass beads because the cost is less. The glass is the only concession they have offered because of all of their mess ups. I can't even believe they even tried to back out of that.

I emailed today because they have been stalling getting me a change order for my color change to blue surf and adding the luminous. They have promised several times that I would get the change order by the end of the day. Well today I said I was tired of the lies and false promises and I would be in the office at 4p.m. to pick up the change order and to have it ready. That is why I think my girlfriend just called asking if I would be willing to accept the abalone shells instead. I hope I can keep my composure when I go into the office today.

Tell them you'll accept the shells along WITH the glass beads.

You want me to drive up to Austin?? You can keep your composure, and I will let 'em have it!! OMG!
Suz.

haha I wish I had someone to help me. Anyway I managed to get the change order for the blue surf and blue blend. I am going to refrain from saying anything else about the company from this point forward. I'll post photos and what is happening but I am refraining from any other of whatever negotiations occur. My total opinion of them has changed after this last meeting and I don't want to say something I would regret.

Happy birthday Umm! Hopefully you will get plaster soon. I'm sure they are trying to cut their loses on a job they totally messed up. Glad you stuck to your guns on the shells and beads. Hopefully after your "talk" with them today they will have seen the error of their ways and get your pool finished up.

Keep us updated on what's happening.

Thanks everyone!

They are still working and I have the glass bead change order so everything hopefully will finish as planned. I do have notes and all email and paper transactions with them. That is why I wanted the change order because if they didn't do as they promised then I would have a leg to stand on. The promise was via phone so I had no way to track that.

I am now scheduled for finish on Monday. That could be delayed if the rain pushes out the plaster crew. They had to dig up a part of my yard for the final electric inspection so they could see the bond wire. I guess he didn't know they would have to see it. In the process of digging up my sprinkler system died. Thankfully it is going to rain. But we passed the final electric!

Here is what is left:
1. Paver guys have to come out and fix drain, replace cracked coping they never fixed, fix some cracked grout, and acid wash to clean up excess grout.
2. Plumber still needs to fix a shutoff valve that should be in my grass in a landscaping box but it is above the grass where it can be hit by a lawnmower. Plus my bubbler needs moved before they plaster.
3. My fence is leaning from the tractor.
4. Fix the sprinkler system.
5. Someone needs to come brown coat.
6. Plaster

We are almost there! Finally more items are being removed from my punch list than are added.

That right there is great news!!! Yay!!!!

I'm ready to see the plaster. I admire you for standing up to them and making them redo what is blatantly wrong. I know many just let it go. Otherwise, you wouldn't see all these "mistakes."
Please post pictures when you get plastered. [emoji3]Everyone loves to see someone else in that condition! [emoji3](kidding of course)!
