Yet another Texas pool build!

I love the way sand finishes off pavers -- awesome! YOU ARE SO CLOSE! I cannot believe what you've endured with your pool build, and I'm sure we'll all have our fingers crossed for you when you get plastered -- something has to go right the first time! :)

No there are lots of rocks around my pipes and I am worried about eventual leaks. I was told that they would get rid of the rocks and use back fill and it is very obvious they didn't do that. I want them to dig up all the pipes and redo it.

Thanks so much! I am hoping I will be plastered next week. At least that is what I am hearing but I haven't heard anything yet.

The deck looks incredible! You definitely have a lot more patience than me. No way I could wait for all that work to get done and more importantly, making sure it's good and level.

Thanks! Believe me it has been a patience tester. In fact I am so numb to it now that it feels weird that I might be finished soon. I don't know why but I am a little scared of having a finished pool. Being in the middle of construction is "normal" for us now so being done with something and having life back to normal seems weird to me.

Another update is I just went out and I have the landscaping guys moving some sprinklers for me. The previous owners put in extra flower beds so I have a long throw sprinkler that sprays into the middle of a bush (probably why that bush is so happy) and I have 2 long throw sprinklers that are spraying into the backs of trees they are moving out. They also are going to fix a bunch I have in the front yard that aren't working right.

Oh and the sales manager told me that the labor on my paver/wall work was 15k in itself without the materials. That blows my mind!

OUCH! That is a LOT of labor!

Now ummmmmmm did you REALLY think this crew would do what they said they would or even what they were told to do????

Kim

This is a different crew actually but the same sub they work for. This is a landscaping crew I have no clue what the other guys were because they couldn't do pavers that is for sure.

Ok so small update. Most of the landscaping is done with the sprinklers, dirt, except for the sod. They want the sod done after plaster because according to the sales manager "The pebbletec guys are messy messy" and they could ruin the sod. Also in our neighborhood we have 2 parties a year and they are always in our cul-de-sac. The next party is Oct 3rd. Part of me doesn't want the sod put back down in the front yard because there will be over 100 people and I don't want them destroying my new sod. There are often kids playing ball and running through our yard (which I don't mind at all). I don't think my neighbor (who is the HOA president) was too happy with me saying that. What does everyone think? I don't want them to lay 1k sq ft of sod and then have 1/2 of it ruined.

You could spray paint the logo of your favorite team on the front dirt for a festive atmosphere! I've spray painted "Happy Birthday..." on our backyard before. It was fun to look at from the deck above. And a football field in the lower yard. Mostly disappears after the next mowing. Or just spray paint it green. If people are drinking enough they may not even notice.

I agree with you. Wait. If your neighbor objects, just ask him if the HOA will pay for the replacement sod.

This is funny! I'll give you an update below but this shouldn't be necessary now.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^ LOL

what she said...............why even take the chance??????????

Kim

I really don't want to take a chance. My PB thinks otherwise.

I second that! If your HOA is okay I'd wait to lay the sod until after the block party. It would be a waste to lay new sod and it gets destroyed before the roots can settle in.

I agree!

This a great idea! I really don't have a favorite sports team. Maybe I can find out the team the HOA president likes and put their main competitor on my lawn. J/K.

As an update the decking crew was back out again yesterday. They finished somethings I didn't like. Mainly the grout they put on the boulders near the steps was huge. Also there was some area around those boulders that didn't look finished. They cemented in some large river rock into the gaps and also put in some more small rocks to fill it in. I am really happy with the way it came out. I'll try to get some photos on Thursday. (I get home after dark tonight). I know I should have taken photos of it last night but we got home right before dark last night and I snuck out real quick.

The PB is having issues with the hand rails for some reason. He didn't really go into details but he is still trying to figure out who is going to do it. For some reason he doesn't like who has been doing their hand rails. I am glad they figured that out on someone else. And hopefully the electric gets done for the pool equipment tomorrow. The official idea is the pebble will go in next week sometime.

On the sod front my PB wants to put it in now. His guy that lays the sod said it will be ok. I'll let them go ahead and do it but I made it clear that I was worried about it getting damaged and he said it would be ok. If the neighbors destroy it then I'll just have him fix what gets damaged. Part of me is thinking that he wants it clean because their sign is in my yard and they want a good presentation.

I would!!!! Three rounds of it so there is NO excuse for the ruining of it.

Why does your PB want to go ahead and do it? Money?

SO close!

Kim

I have no idea why he wants to do it now. Either he wants the yard to look ok because their sign is in the yard OR maybe the same guy putting up the fence is also laying sod so it makes it easier to schedule them all at once.

Here is how the trim rocks turned out.

They are moving at a snails pace right now. I am so close I can taste it. I just wish they would get busy.

Umm- I just read through your thread and first of all, your pool and pavers are gorgeous!! Like everyone else, I can't wait to see it all plastered and finished. I just love all the curves and elevations. It's a beauty!
Secondly, your build terrifies me to begin ours. I am so not good with confrontation and it will be me dealing with everything in our build. Ours will be less fancy though so maybe less chance of screw ups, I hope.

I feel terrible for you and your wife that this has taken almost 1/2 the year. Hopefully not much longer so your babies can get some swimming in! You all have waited long enough!
