Okay lets look ahead...............get some socks or such to tape on to the end of the hoses to keep the metal ends from touching your pretty, new plaster. When the water is started make sure the hose ends are right by the lowest part of the pool. Most of the time that is right by the main drains.
Now the really important part..................when the water starts flowing do NOT stop it!! If you stop it before it reaches the waterline tile it could make a ring around the whole pool that is almost impossible to remove
They’re coming to acid wash later today, PB said they will be the ones starting the water. I likely won’t be here but will give instructions to husband to check they sock it!
They’re bringing the brush on Monday when they come to do the startup. So I’ll hopefully have some awesome toned arms by the time I can get in the actual pool!
Equipment was switched on yesterday, pool school company called to schedule pool school for next Wednesday. Is the water going to be OK sitting without chemicals that long?
Nope The pH is going to be off as well as the CH and TA. All of these are VERY important to your life of your plaster. Please run out there and pull some water and test it. Post the results and we will get you headed in the right direction. This is VERY important!!!
Darn.... we must have forgotten to tell you to have test kit in hand as the build progressed so you'd be ready.
Please obtain either the TF-100 (my preferred) or K-2006C ... the fastest source will be: TFTestkits.net
Ok, this is unconventional but take some water to *both* Pinch a Penny & Leslies (without saying you're going to compare results, and don't buy anything!) then tell us the results both give you and let us advise you, ok? We doubt the validity of most pool store results but this may buy us some time till YOUR own kit arrives. No one does better results that are reproducible than the owner themselves.
Also go get a gallon or two of muriatic acid from Lowes or Home Depot (either paint section or pool section) and have it on hand. Also both stores should have a 4 pound jug of CYA (cyanuric acid) also known as pool stabilizer...get one or two of those. A gallon of *plain* liquid chlorine or bleach (no scents, thickeners, polymers, cloramax tech type stuff) will be needed. Don't use anything until you get us those test results and we'll help guide you.
Bad Kim! BAD!!!! I totally dropped the ball on your build and I am so sorry I have a set of links I put together for new pool owners and I did not share them with you when your shell was put in. This is also when I usually talk about getting a good test kit. BAD KIM!
Spoke to PB this morning who said they added chemicals when they started up the equipment and that it’s fine to wait until next week. But I will be ordering my kit today!
