Yellow timer

Hi, I think my yellow timer may be slowing down. I can see the black wheels inside turning. The front black wheel is not turning, but the back one is. Is that normal?
Right now it is 130 and the clock is saying 1.

Right now it’s at 1 and it should turn off but instead I’m hearing a clicking noise and the clock is not moving forward.

Can someone please help?

The gears wear out.

Get a Intermatic T104M and replace the mechanism.

It is not worth trying to repair it.

I have unscrewed the timer so that I can check the number on the back. For posterity here is the photo.

On Amazon, I don’t see “WG1573-5E” but several pop up when I am searching the Intermatic T104M. Are these the same?

Option A: this one doesn’t have the “M” you noted but looks like it could be it? Amazon.com

I’m sorry. This is my first time with this issue and I don’t want to get the wrong one so could use some guidance.

That's the number on the motor. In the photo below you could see the number up on top upper left.

I assume that only controls your swg? Your pump may be wired through the switch As well? I replaced my mechanical timer with a simple $13 Wi-Fi switch. It may not be for you, but if you're interested take a look at the link below, Post #9. Pretty simple.

Make sure you shut power off at the breaker to the timer if you're going to be tinkering in there.

@Rancho Cost-a-Lotta i think I’m going to stick with my current type of set up because I’m not confident I’d figure out the WiFi situation. Right now I could use your help in selecting a timer that is the exact replacement. I was just looking at Amazon but I could also go to local pool store

Thanks! My local pool store also has it in stock for similar pricing so I’ll start there since I’m impatient. I’ll also turn off the main breaker to the area so I don’t die.

I installed the new one and am testing it. I think something is wrong. everything is powered up fine which was a relief.

In testing the timer, I turned on the SWG and then set the knob so that it would hit the off and turn off. Well it got to the off, I heard the noise of the peg go. But the switch did not move to the off position. I notice there’s like goopy stuff on the mechanism that is behind the yellow timer. I thought that was weird but then I saw that this is also on the old timer and it worked fine for 10 years.
I am now trying the “on” knob to see if that works.

Any thoughts?

Ok. The on peg worked. Let me try the off again. Maybe I was messing with it too much. I’m overly committed at this time. Will report back soon.

Ok update. Turns out the issue wasn’t the timer. It was me. I had it in the off position so when the “off” peg was hit, there was the noise, but since it was already off it just stayed that way of course. Sorry everyone, I guess the energy high from doing electrical work like a pro made the rest of my brain turn off.

Anyhow I’m going to set the clock to the correct time now and put the pegs where they need to be and then check in tmr to confirm all is well.
