Wiring so swg isn't on when pump isn't running

I'm replacing my single speed pump with a harris 3hp vsp (upgrading from a 1hp), and installing a circupool rj45+ so I can stop by chlorine. I'm keeping everything 220v. I've read on here that you don't want the swg to run when the pump isn't running for safety reasons. The swg has the flow valve as one safety measure, but those can stick. I plan to wire the pump direct since it has it's own timer and controls, and I plan to run the swg off of a intermatic timer and have it set to be on only when the pump is running. Is there any other way to ensure the swg gets power only when the pump is running, or am I being to cautious?
