Will my spa pop,if I empty it

Hi
ive heard stories of spas ‘popping’ / lifting if they’re emptied of water.
my spa is half recessed into the ground, the other half above ground, it has blue stone pavers on around the top edges.

the spa has to be emptied to enable repair of blisters that have appeared in the fibreglass resin.
the repairer has advised that it’s fine to empty the water and that it will not pop.

is he right, or should I be asking for something in writing to cover me in case it does lift.... and destroy parts of the spa and all my paving...

A,

A pool or spa can pop out of the ground when there is a high ground water level. Do you know if your area has high ground water?

If you dig a 3 foot deep post hole does it fill with water?

Unless you have a high ground water level, you don't have anything to worry about.

Thanks,

Jim R.

A spa can definitely pop if water gets under the tub.

Be especially careful if it rains because you can get enough water under the tub to pop it up.

Do you have a picture of the tub and area?
