Wiffle-ball filter cover?

My pool was built in 1964. "Skimmer" is open, no flappy door to the main pool; it is a rectangular opening in the deck (that is covered by two 2x4s - another project to replace the worn, waterlogged wood is ongoing, hence the measuring tape in the phot). The cover on the intake is a wiffle ball with a collar that goes over the pipe. Well, the collar broke, so the ball does not stop the leaves from the orange tree from getting into the pump.

My searches online at pool supply places or google in general produce nothing. What do I call this? Can I get another one - suggestions on DIY or old-school pool supply? Should I just go to Big 5 and get a wiffle ball? :)

What’s funnier is that someone came up with the idea of attaching a 50¢ wiffle ball to the end of standard PVC fitting (maybe $1.50 🤷‍♂️) and then charging $20 plus shipping for it 😂
I wonder what the demand for those is? #sidehustle 🤣🤣
