Hi, I was looking all over the net and I could not find the reason why manufacturers such as raypak and Hayward will void warranty if used with soft sided pools. What are the risks?
The short answer that they are not stating is because of bonding and grounding.. All Intex style pools do not require a bonding structure on them because of the type of pumps they use...
Take this electrical connection manual for the aquacal heat pump..
They have to follow the NEC guidelines for electrical bonding and grounding and soft sided pools do not come with any of those things...
You would have to modify your pool and area surrounding the pool to conform to the NEC and all bonding requirements.. It can be done and I have done it on my Intex and everything including the pool and water and all my equipment is bonded correctly.. But it would still void the warranty as the pool originally came with no bonding... I knew this when I installed my Pentair equipment and installed it anyway because I knew it was done right and had a licensed and bonded electrician do my install and I bonded everything...
