Why is my skimmer doing this...

At time it will correct and water flows as it should.

Pressure on filter gauge is correct.

Likely the weir door on the skimmer is getting stuck. Or just the water level in the pool is too low.

The water is being sucked into the skimmer port faster than it can get through your skimmer throat. Likely for one of the reasons in the post above.

Thanks all... have adjusted water level so will see how it goes.

My skimmer uses that type floating weir as well (but no weir door). Generally if I rotate the inner circular float all the way to its operating position it fixes it. If the inner float is closer to the release position such as when cleaning it seems to get partially stuck on the inner plastic notch.
