Where to go from here?

Thank you everyone for the collective wisdom, especially as a first time pool owner. I have searched many threads in this forum and learned a great deal. I however wanted to get some feedback.

Issue: Day 13 of SLAM and still seeing dead algae.

Backstory: We had a pool company and unfortunately they could not get our pool to swimming condition after opening, literally swamp green. I took over the pool care two weeks ago and have since brought the pool much closer to swimming conditions thanks to the SLAM process. Brushing daily, backwashing every few days, vacuum to waste as needed, running filter 24/7 and pool robot as needed.

Unfortunately every morning I am still seeing small pockets of dead algae on the pool floor. The water is crystal clear otherwise, CC is 0 and OCLT is less than 1. Stats are below. I have removed the pool ladder and decided to just crank up the chlorine to mustard algae levels for the past two days. Should I simply hold the chlorine levels at this high level until the algae disappears?

Welcome to TFP! You have crystal clear water, passed the OCLT, and no CCs - the SLAM is done. No need to be at MA levels. Let the FC slowly fall to the normal ranges as noted on the FC/CYA Levels. Continue to sweep/brush any dead algae or other debris to where it can either get pushed up into the skimmer or vacuumed. Water looks great.

Are you positive it's dead algae? Pollen, dirt, sand could also be possibilities if you have passed all SLAM criteria.
If you still feel it's algae, making sure you are brushing and that you scrub down any lights/niches, the skimmer box and weir door, etc.

This time of year is tricky for many of us as they're clearing alage while Mother Nature dumps all kinds of crud in the pool. It's impossible to tell which is which when they both poof with the brush.

I go with the passed tests to feel better about it being pollen/crud. I keep an elevated FC until there's no more poofing. Just a couple FC, no need for SLAM levels. Pass an OCLT weekly to feel better about it next week too. Repeat as necessary.

Thank you everyone. TFP has been amazing and I recommend it to everyone.

It very well may be pollen/debris. I was laser focused on the algae that I assumed it was that. I will bring the FC back down to earth and once I do I will check the one pool light and skimmers. I will do another round of SLAM testing and assuming it passes I will let it go.
