I assume you now have your own test kit? Modify your signature if so.
You need chlorine. Follow the FC/CYA Levels. Raise it to within the target range.
Lower your pH to 7.6 with muriatic acid.

I have bought a kit and am learning. The pool service doesn't appear to be doing things correctly, but I want to prove it before I fire them and hit them with negative reviews.
What Marty said. Plug numbers into poolmath. Target 7.6 pH and add whatever acid that requires. Let it mix good then add enough chlorine to get you to 5 FC. That's it. You're balanced.
