I have a 40k gallon pool or so. It’s 12 or more years old at this point. I can see multiple areas where the white concrete is visible. I don’t have any known leak issues. I’m not overly concerned with the look and trying to figure out when must I resurface or have serious consequences for not doing so. Since it seems to cost 60k to resurface it, I’m wanting to do it just when necessary.

What color is your plaster?
Gunite/shotcrete is dark grey. I doubt the white you see is the shell.
If you have no leaks, cracks, or rebar rusting then things are cosmetic.
