What’s your water temp - Spring 2024 edition

It is a balmy 47F in NJ right now. I suspect my pool is somewhere in the 40's.

I don't even think about opening until May.

Me, I think that once the water hits the 70s is fine. My wife likes to see 80F, but that only happens for a short 3 or 4 week window.

my pool is probably somewhere between 40-50. I will get in at 78 but 80 is more comfortable. we have to heat it or it may never get that high. so we don't go higher than 82, because money.

I saw 72 yesterday. When I stuck my arm in to get a sample, I thought it seemed like it was feeling warm, but I said, "no, you can't fool me!" I imagine if it was warm and sunny out and I'd been doing some yard work or something it would feel OK to jump in. But, we had a cool front come through last night, so I bet it'll lose a few degrees before it warms back up, and I don't see myself wanting to jump in until it's warm again!

Pool water in Houston is 80F! I got in a few days ago, no sun shining, so it took a while to get used to it. But once in it was cool but comfortable. The pool was built last summer, so this is coming out of my first winter. Last summer the water was 94ish in the summer, and felt more like a bath. The kids were swimming earlier this year, when the water hit 70F, but didn't stay in for a long time. For them, 75F is ok and they will swim longer, and 80F is fine. I kept the pool open through the winter.

I just replaced my liner and after two days of filling I've discovered my house water apparently comes out of the tap around 54 degrees! (And there is a frost warning in my area overnight. )

In the Houston area. We just had a cold snap blow through (overnight lows in the upper 50s), which brought my water temperature down to the upper 70s, but prior to this the water was getting into the low 80s on its own with daily air temp highs in the mid to upper 80s.

I'll happily swim with temps in the low 80s, but if the family wants to swim too I'll heat the pool to 85.

I think this thread is teaching me that I need to learn to enjoy the colder water temps. I wonder how I can work up to it? I’d love to use the pool more than when the warm season is around!!

Cut the grass, wash the car, take a jog. Something to get your body temp up. Will make the plunge feel refreshing. Or if you have a spa crank the heat up and stay in as long as you can before jumping in the cold water.

79F here in Phoenix yesterday. Jumped in last weekend and it was still a little chilly for me. Waiting for the mid 80s. Not too much longer to go.

I’ve been traveling a bit, so haven’t checked in for a while. But lawd-a-mercy, it is sooooooo hot. Our rainy season hasn’t started yet and I can’t wait for it to do so. I’m having to add water every week and right now, my pool temp is 94°. Now you all know that I enjoy a warm pool, but honestly, this is getting a little too warm for me at this point!

I was actually googling sunshades a little while ago! Those of you who know my dislike for cold water temps know that that is extreme for me.
