It's 3 PM on a random Tuesday in early April, the water is probably 45*F, our pool isn't even open yet, and I'm already daydreaming at work about floating around drinking margaritas, daiquiris, and the multitude of Tiki drinks that I decide to concoct this summer. With a vinyl liner pool, it seems obvious that glassware is a big no-no. Now, I won't say that I'm too sophisticated to drink out of a Red Solo Cup, but purely in the name of environmental consideration I'm thinking it might make sense to get something reusable. So I ask: what are you drinking out of in your pool this year?

If it's only adults that I have deemed to be responsible, I use some of my random barware that I've collected from estate sales over the years. Not crystal or valuable, but still glass. If kids or adults of unknown responsibility are involved, I generally have enough cheap insulated plastic tumblers to keep everyone set up. If not, the solo cups come out.

Choice of manufacturer doesn't seem too important; I have a few Tossware Reserve styles, GET hurricane glasses, some tumblers from Crate & Barrel, etc. The critical thing, if you want a high quality glass-like look, is that the drinkware must not have visible mold seams.

We are a fan of the SS insulated tumblers, Yeti, Rtic, Polar, whatever brand, all the sizes. I also have some silipint pint and rocks glasses that can be used. Plastic plates and bowls and lots of plastic cups for the kids.
No glass allowed in the back yard, inside the fence. I don't care how responsible the person is, accidents are called accidents for a reason. I don't even take anything glass back there when I'm by myself. If you are a close friend, I've gotten you a SS tumbler with some personalization on it that stays here for you, so you don't have to remember to bring your own.

The are nice for the pool because the lid minimizes spills.
In the hot tub I just use whatever non-glass container that fits my mood - I have a Friendly's Fribble Glass that I am partial to.

I've been using TOSSWARE, bought on Amazon. They have many varieties pilsner glasses, tumblers, wine glasses, and they look like glass, but they are plastic. I get questioned all the time,,,, "I thought you don't allow glass at the pool?". So they really look and feel like glass. No offence to beer drinkers who drink from a can, but I hate the metal taste that comes from drinking from a can.
Oh I like the look of those! I do enjoy using the "right" glass for each beer style... and I do enjoy drinking beer in the pool! I might have to pick up a few styles.
