What is this stuff?

This year i have noticed these black brittle flakes on the bottom of my pool. I am fairly certain that it is from my equipment. Has anyone ever seen this? My pump is working and been running non-stop but sounds different. Could it be that the plastic impeller is coming apart? Not sure what to make of it. Any replies are always appreciated

Pieces that big would not be able to get from the pump impeller through your filter into your pool.

Confirm that is plastic.

You have black Jandy valves in your plumbing? Your heater is after the filter and could be shedding parts.

Anyone in your neighborhood doing exterior or roof work?

Quite possibly the heater. It leaks and I havent used it in multiple years. No roof work being done.

It could be from your heater, but if the heater leaks why is it still connected to the pool plumbing.
