What is this spigot for?

Hello all,

hoping to get some info on why there is a spigot on this pipe, which is going into my filter.

I think thats coming out, not going in - my guess would be for a hose for cleaning - or maybe to fill up the dog-bowl ?

Weird, but I could see how it could be handy to have it if you have no other water source nearby maybe.

May have been used during pressure testing.
Can be used (pool pump on) to drain a little bit of water after a rain event. Just add a hose to the spigot and direct the water flow where you want it.
